From: Carnildo Greenacre Which hole in the "Keep James Miller where he belongs" tech are you going to exploit for this? He's going to run at his wall and yank his cell phone out of his pocket just before he hits. When he wakes up, he should be in Linden Lab's building... Or within 256 meters of it. (Maybe only James will get that... Dunno. )

Its kinda funny because a while back I did a mapquest search of the LL address. I think you will know once you get close as some familiar names will start popping up. You'll feel like you are crossing from one sim to another.
Some of the earlier sims are all named after streets located around LL. Hawthorne, Shipley, Freelon, Lusk and the list goes on.

Not to be a stickler, but they're actually alleys. And DaBoom is a typo; the alley is spelled, "DeBoom". Here's an interesting page with info on all the simulators and how many of them got their names: http://www.badgeometry.com/wiki/SimNamesRegards, -Flip

Only famous SLers allowed? Damn, there goes my hope of visiting. LOL Tiger. I have the tickets booked to SF, but, not totally sure if I want to visit LL...it's sort of like...maybe it's better to just have it in my imagination? What if it's not as good as I think? *shrug*

From: Olympia Rebus I'd love to visit 'em. So far it seems the visiter list is SL celebs. Do they allow mere mortals (like me ) on the premises? well, they let me in and i'm not a celeb, just a mere mortal.

Okay, basically, over a year ago, I discovered a bug which let me go to any sim I wanted. (especially private islands.) First, I'd locate an avatar I knew to be on the island. (In the case of the Prelude/Orientation Island sims, a Liaison worked best.) Next, I would track them, if I had their calling card. Then, I would fly towards them. I would go to the sim closest to the island, and then fly straight towards the invisible wall at the end of the world. Just before I hit it, I unplugged the network cable from the back of my laptop. That let me continue flying off-world, moving closer and closer to the island. Once I got very close to the beacon which represents the location of the avatar I was tracking, I would go to World -> Create Landmark Here, and quickly plug the network cable back in. I would 'snap back' to where I was when I unplugged the cable, but, the landmark would finish creating! Sure enough, it turned out to be a landmark to the off-world Island. Using that landmark, I could teleport there. So, that's how I did it. It doesn't work now, since you can't create landmarks when you're off-world. Also, you cannot teleport to Prelude/OI without god-mode. You shoulda seen the reaction from the Liaison on duty when I was found walking around Prelude!

I happen to live near San Francisco, but would be hard pressed to find time during the week to go visit Anyone know if they work on weekends? Oh, and if I visit, I plan to bring copies of my resume

Linden Visit
02-25-2005 03:56
Went there, got the tee shirt, read a lot of notes from the board. Did you all know there is a betting pool up on the board concerning who's fault the most recent bug is? LOL, hope that I am not giving away any LL secrets, there. And yep! got pictures. It was a really nice story about how I ended up being let in to visit.

Yeah, visiting LL is pretty much.......well, it's not everything you expect.....ok, a lot of it is kinda like....wow.......even though the style of the office was very open and not like any other I'd seen, it didn't surprise me to see everyone working so openly. *giggles* and Trinnie got all gushy at seeing Baccie's sig on the board.....hey wait....we all signed the board......DOH! They've been white-washing again. *sigh* Guess we'll just have to go back and sign again. =P The trippiest part for me was that I was told as we were driving through SanFran that the original sims for SL were named after the streets around LL's HQ. See how many sims you can find in this map! I got to park on Da Boom.

From: His Grace So Neo Rebus and I went to Linden Labs today. We got to see where they all sit (one big room). And we met Cory, Dan, David, Haney, Jeska, Kona, Lee, Phillip, Ramzi, and more whose names I forgot. Robin wasn't in the office boo! We wrote our names on the board near the entrance; more of y'all need to visit only names so far are: Pituca Chang, Garth Fairlight, Bacarra Rhodes, and now Neo Rebus and His Grace. And they gave us T-shirts. You really should visit. You get to meet all the great people who work so hard to make SL as awesome as it is, and Phillip and Haney are really interested in knowing what residents think of SL and where it should go. Do we get a discount on our bilsl when making a visit to the office? Now that would be good.

It would prolly be a Mission Impossible theme for me to get in
They would prolly bar the doors
Shoot the Dogs to keep em quiet
and everyone would duck under their desks whispering maybe he will just go away....

Yeah, calling ahead is just polite and it gives them time to make sure they have time to meet you and usually, if you have a favorite Linden, you can get to meet them too. Just go to Linden Lab's contact page and give them a call. We spoke to Robin when we called and she was happy to set things up, and everyone there is really friendly and wonderful. Just watch out for the dentist chair......and Haney too. 'Bout scared the poop out of me when he came up and I found out it was him
