I knew those Celts were behind this.

You just can't trust em.

For many Native American people it is the "Green Corn Festival". Different tribes celebrate it different ways, but honoring dead ancestors, fasting, purging and then feasting are the usual.

... sounds a little like Holloween to me.

Also Chip - I have to ask: Is that site for real or is it a parody? I ask because some of these people are so extreme it's hard to know.

Rose, I *think* it's parody, but it's really hard to tell. If it isn't parody, that makes it just that much funnier in my book :D

"Boo! I'm John the Baptist and these are my many exciting exploits!" hahahahaha

Looks like the History Channel will be having a special on the history of Halloween on Oct. 31, if anyone's interested.

I'm a Christian, and I have nothing against Halloween. I see it as simply a celebration of fantasy and whimsy. Still, I respect those who choose not to celebrate it based on religious convictions. They're only doing what they believe is right in the eyes of God.

That said, I am concerned for those who actively try to dissuade people outside the faith from celebrating Halloween. Somehow that seems quite misguided. :(

See, I think it's real....and I was in tears by the time I was done reading I was laughing so hard.

"Peggy Miller has made this delightful mask of her famous Lambuel character....It can also be used as an inexpensive handout for the trick-or-treaters you've converted who wish to replace their evil masks before going back out into the streets to spread the Good News to their friends and neighbors."

I believe in God, but I would not be a happy camper if my child was "converted" because (s)he was wearing an "evil" costume.
