Hey, check out the first ever "gaming" of the new secondlife website!

Hey LL, how about not letting one delusional player continue to libel both your product and other third party products on your homepage as well as forums?

I went to the homepage to check out your cool new feature, and was greeted by more of the same bullshit. Isn't it enough already?

Good Lord. I had to put my glasses on and damn near press my face to the monitor to read that Panda. I doubt most people will do that but...

This is bullshit.

I noticed that too. The Tinfoil Hat Brigade learned how to make a text texture. Look out, SL.

While I'm not sure this is the best medium for a protest, this invidual has reasonable concerns about privacy.

I think it's best that we engage him in a polite discussion and seek compromises now rather than later.

The internet today suffers greatly because email is so vulnerable to spam and other invasions of privacy. No point in repeating the same mistakes with SL.

Rather than being insulting and generally showing off the ugly side of our personalities, why don't we simply put ourself in the shoes of this individual and think about ways in which we can ensure that there are more opportunities to spend time in SL which is spam free and our privacy is ensured?

You'd better speak to Hiro Pendragon then, because that's the person who uploaded it to slpics.com, which is why it appeared on the sl site:

http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=9919&sort=PictureID+desc

So no, it wasn't gamed

No, moopf, I have a better idea, why don't we just light the torches and pull out the pitchforks.

I would much rather put myself in the shoes of a company that I put money into. My $$$ sigh :( is also an investment into the future of a platform that I believe in.

Moopf - I didn't name any names! :)

I am not going to have a "polite discussion" with a griefer who publically threatens to neg-rate me across his alts. Instead, I will hector and pillory!

SL's front page is NOT the place to protest policy. This is supposed to be the place where people who have not signed up for SL, are convinced to actually sign up.

LL implemented a neat new feature with the live pics on the home page. Let's not force them to remove it.

The thing that really puzzles me is, this feature isn't harming anyone, and there are so many far, far more important things to be concerned about, both in SL and the RL. Why sweat the small, harmless stuff?

All the energy poured into the posts, protests and agendas could be spent in much better ways....like masturbation...

Someone on these forums is gaming their post count meter.

Two posts back to back exactly 1 minute apart.

Why come no used edit key?

Perhaps the Lindens have a strategy that's so subtle and crafty that to us outsiders it would merely have the appearance of letting an abusive jackass repeatedly libel, alienate and inflame their loyal customers using their own technology?

No you didn't, you just made it clear with the content of your post who you were talking about and jumped to the conclusion that the person who made the sign was the person who posted it to slpics.com, and hence why it ended up on the sl web site. And you were wrong about that, so your premise that the site is being gamed doesn't appear to be true, does it. Which was kind of your whole point. So your post is pointless because of that incorrect presumption.

Next time, check who's sending the pictures would be my advice to avoid causing drama where none need exist. :)

I am well within my right to put that sign up. It is my land.

The sign states fact. Period. I imply nothing. It draws no conclusions. It does not slander anybody.

The signs are on my land. Not yours.

I keep SL within SL.

In fact, one sign that I put up, on MY land, apparently disturbed the view from a window of one resident. He sent a POLITE tell. I went and looked it over, decided he was right, and I both removed the sign and lowered the land.

Since, apparently any action I take no matter how legit it may be or how accommodating I have demonstrated myself to be in world is ignored by the community in favor of slandering, degrading, and insulting a resident with a reasonable concern (and you are not the judge of "reasonable";), I will say what I should have said in the first place.

It's my land. Go to hell. Future requests for accommodation, which I have always agreed to, will fall on deaf ears. I don't need this shit.

Hiro, you have shown your true colors here and I will not respond to you in any way from here on. I will also have you know that, after a 12 hour meeting yesterday, I actually did log in and consider how I might make the vorago activate-on-demand. You can now forget any effort on my part. Your campaign to have me leave Varney will fail.

Take it to the Lindens, who btw are undoubtedly aware of this, and have taken no action whatsoever, because I am in no way in violation of anything.

Continue this and look forward to getting a warning, or suspended.

I have reported the people who have insulted me in this thread.

I'm sorry Tcoz and everyone else, I jumped to conclusions and went off like a fool. It's cause I've been stewing all morning about the forums. Maybe it's time I take one of those traditional forum vacations.

I have a question Tcoz. Exactly how much spam have you received as a result of your avatar key being easy to obtain? I'm going to take a wild guess and say the answer is "none."

Specious to say the least Chip. Even you must know that. With a little care it would be impossible to determine. I have also frequently stated one of my concerns is not the receipt of spam in SL.

Unrelated to this particular picture, I have to say it does seem that a very tiny group of protestors will not be happy until the snapshots are removed altogether from the home page, which would be a shame.
