I signed up for a lifetime membership on the third day of my trial. =)
Had I known SL was as cool as it is, I would have joined back when I first heard about it in it's beta phase.
The SL web site hardly does it justice for it's visuals, flexibility, positive community, and technical achievement.
I had no idea we could script our creations until I read about it in the copyright press release on Slashdot. Until I read that article and jumped in to try it out, I just assumed this was a small evolution of existing 3d worlds (such as Alpha Worlds). Suffice it to say I was floored when I got in and looked around =)

For all you new lifers,
Can you tell me how much it is and how easily they give them up?
When we the beta tester got lifetime accounts they said that they would offer some to post beta users but that they would cut them off and stop offering them. To make them special.
I am glad you guys have the opportunity to join our hallowed ranks, but I don't appreciate the Lindens having misled us.
oh BTW, who the hell dug up this thread?
JV They didn't mislead, they were just slow to sell. That is until 1.2 came around. I think they may all be gone already, farther up the thread someoine said only 1 or 2 left and yesterday had about 76. so im sure you are still special BTW i cant remember exactly but was like 225-250

I got my Lifetime Account the third day into my eval. I am really impressed with a lot that I see here in Second LIfe.

When we the beta tester got lifetime accounts they said that they would offer some to post beta users but that they would cut them off and stop offering them. To make them special. If I remember right they were $195 in beta and $225 after. They gave them up as easily as clicking the checkbox and hitting enter. When they said they would offer some to post beta users I think they meant that after beta they would offer all the remaining lifetime accounts until they were gone. They were limited by number, not by time.

If you were a beta member, you got a lifetime membership for $159.95 but regular members have to pay $255. The $160 was such a steal, but it at least made me feel like all my beta testing meant somthing and I got paid for it

I had a choice...
12-19-2003 05:39
I could have gone for life-membership, I had the money, but instead I'm using every penny I have to fly over to the USA to spend xmas and new year with my girlfriend (we met in SL in October). I don't regret this one little bit! I may not be a Slifer, but I'm here for life
