I don't post with alts. I also sign surveys. If I can't say it publically, I shouldn't say it at all.

Hello. My name is Malachi, and I'm an alt.

I'm so glad that I've found this chapter of Alternates Anonymous, it's made such a difference in my life and those whose lives mine has touched. It is difficult to admit to yourself that you are an alt let alone proclaim it to a whole thread of people.

I became an alternate about 2 years ago when I was forced, against my choosing, to take a surname other than my own. From there the slide was precipitous: if I am already using a surname other than my own, why shouldn't I use a fabricated first name as well? I think that's why they call "Petunia" a "gateway name". Once I started down this path of duplicity and lies, it was too easy to act - well in a sense - exactly like me.

It was about a year later that I moved on to "group creation policy"; it's just too easy. Some people may say that I was simply taking the easy way out, attending to my selfish desires and morally weakenend by the prior years' "use". They are probably right.

But I'm here to tell you.... there's something else: We're all alts. I know that some people won't want to admit that to themselves so I'll say it again: We are all alts.

As metaphysical projections of selfhood into a virtual space, we are all alts. And on behalf of all alts everywhere, I'd like to say, be proud of who you are, stop the denial, you are hurting no one but yourself. Althood is not something to be hated in itself, or as some like to say "hate the altness, love the alt".

But is being an alt really so bad? Well, since we are all wearing the mask of alt-hood, this is a good question. As an answer I offer what has been called "The Petunia Test":I know, you're probably thinking that philosophy this subtle could only come from a British cryptographer who studied under Wittgenstein, but I think you will find on reflection that The Petunia Test is self-evident.

So cast off the shackles of altness, be proud of who you are and join us on National Alternate Day (October 1st, LST) by stating "I'm an alt, and I'm proud!".

Oh and don't listen to a thing that mendacious weasel Introvert Petunia says; he's a fraud.

Oh my god, you're on to me ? Second Life, and Linden labs is only me, and the 2 real users who signed on early on, I confess.

The burden of maintaining 56904 alts plus a main account (and growing) is just too much. You two know who you are. God, I'm glad the truth is finally, out at last.

Aglaia is so new to the forums, but she seems to have her fingers of the pulse of SL.

I have to protest this outrageous discrimination against those of us without alts ...

Now if those voices in my head would shut up .. I wouldn't feel so confused all the time.

Well if aimee is my alt and I am her alt, then we both must be in the forums.

Aimee is my very creative very talented alt, and I am her all knowing, all wise, godlike alt. Fom now on all kotows can be rendered to either of us!

The voices are RL alts. I think those count.

it should also come as no surprise that i need to get moving on SL:UT! Cybin's takin' up all the freakin' comp time with those SLCC badges.. i suppose i can't really whine too much about that though, eh?

not to mention, i have to wait until Cybin gets out there and finds me some land for them there SL:UT offices before i can go ahead with the site. (don't ask me, it's how he wants to do things.. *shrug*)

Yes! Technically am i am alt account. Satu Moreau got me this account under her credit card as a Christmas/birthday gift. So although I'm a seperate person, I am an alt. Yay!

It is highly recommeded to lie and say yes even though the answer is no!

Not all polls need to be accurate - some should have silly results - this in one!

Alt? Whats an Alt?

An alt is a superior being from a higher, more elevated plane of reality.

Some folks perceive their real self, the meat that pays the electric bill, as being their real self and of greater fundamental importance than their their SL avatar accounts.

Boy, are these people silly.

Some people, for reasons unknown, get stuck after acquiring one SL account, and get confused, identifying the first or primary SL account with the meat that pays the bill, and labeling the second third fourth etc. SL accounts as "alts".

Actually all SL accounts, including the first, are equal and sublimely alts, and the meat that pays the bills is just meat.
