The front page says 3,767, but I'm not sure if it's updating.

There are about 10 minutes left. We broke 3800, but the numbers are going down. I don't think we will break 5000.

Nope, not this time around. Maybe the lure of a charter membership just wasn't enough to balance the risk of losing inventories? I know I'm on and LAGGGING;) But hey, we're all in high prim-count stuff, dancing and using particles. And still haven't crashed the sim!

I logged in and ventured out to the Welcome Areas. Things were slow, almost crashed over in Dore. But I teleported to q uieter sim and stayed the rest of the while there. No lag. Just bored. :p Pity we didn't get 5000 though.

I want my benshee now please. Ktnxbye.

Well we didn't get to 5,000, but we did get to about 3,900 which is 50% or so higher than we have ever seen on the grid. We are still going through the data, but it looks like the system handled that load without any troubles. Our goal was to get a look-ahead as to how much load about our current peaks we can handle without any failure - so a 50% overhead was a good achievement.

So maybe the Benshees are scripted to look for residents who weren't logged in during the Log-O-Thon. And finding one, maybe the way they interact is to coordinate and swarm the hapless avie who wasn't there (and isn't too n00b)... :D

Not too bad to get a tenth of the population on. :D

I'm waiting for the benshees to arrive. It may just be me, but when I hear the word "Benshee", I get the urge to grab a shotgun and go Benshee hunting. They sound evil. ;)

May I suggest Linden Lab that next time you do it on SATURDAY? :)

Well, I'm in Europe, and I was online (of course!) but then again, I'm privileged enough to be able to go a bit later to work on Monday ;) Still, I saw that only about 1/3 of the people in my Friends list was online. Many of those are US-based (probably East Coast) and for them it was also a bit too late.

I understand that the peak number of users is strangely reached on Sunday (???) but I think that doing it on a Saturday - or even Friday - would allow people to be online throughout the night, if needed, and sleep the Sunday over :)

Still, 3,900 people is not too bad, considering the limitations :)

My eyes are gritty and I feel awful but I enjoyed being there in a staying-up-late sitting-on-a-bench talking-to-a-friend-with-frequent-typos coffee-propped what-am-I-doing-here-I'm-an-idiot-for-lifetime-membership-stuff-the-benshees type way.

I had a good time hanging out in the beautiful new alpha centauri sim, dancing the lag away. work today, on the other hand, is not so fun.

Cool! Glad to hear it was semi-successful then!! :D

I had a good time dancing with friends. I noticed at one point about 84 people on my friends list were logged on. Been a long time since I saw that many all on at once. haha.. Of course I got drunk and stopped counting after a while. :p

I sort of figured they did it on a Sunday so as not to spoil anyone's big party plans on Friday and Sat. I figured that that they figured those night in SL were usually for big plans and didn't want an uproar that the Logathon interupted the Naked Tringo Beach Snow Blanket Furry party.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?
