I just tested this, and it works. If you drag a folder of body parts onto your AV, the AV will automatically take off al clothing. A good way to make this work in practice is to have a set of base AVs in your bodyparts category which you can use to quickly drop all clothing.

How about this...?
Return the "Take off all clothes" menu option - and in PG sims, if someone uses that menu option, or by whatever method takes off all their clothes...
...then automatically rez a barrel around them...

A good way to make this work in practice is to have a set of base AVs in your bodyparts category which you can use to quickly drop all clothing. An even better way would be to return to the old Remove All Clothing choice and let us ADULTS be responsible for keeping our clothes on in a PG, instead of dumbing down the UI. I doubt many would feel the way I do on this, but dumbing down SL, baby-proofing all the sharp corners and reducing the maturity of the mature nature of the game, and in general turning SL into a congenial, PC-correct 'family' game, for me, is a subscription breaker. If ultimately, Linden Labs decides that the future of SL rests on reducing the SL to a family version so no one in the world should ever be "gasp" offended, then hey, more power to them, hope they make a billion on it. It just won't be a game I enjoy anymore. I can go into any multi-player game out there now and have to walk on eggs with what I say or do, and never be "gasp" offended by any game content because it's all been PC washed and folded into easy-to-digest sizes. I'm sorry, I do not feel the need to be protected from offence by changing the UI controls so that offensive behavior is harder, or impossible to do easily.

I agree with Jellin on this. Is Barbie and Ken style "nudity" that offensive that it requires a change to the UI?

I have to agree w/you Jellin! I mean, god forbid if someone saw my Man Mound... *eeeek* the whole <second> world would come to an end. This game is supposed to be for 18+.. is it not? If the Lindens made our avatars anatomically correct, I *might* agree... but as long as I only have a mound... give me my "Remove All Clothing" option. It's not like it was a trick label or anything.

Honestly, all valid points about clothing removal. However, I see everyone wanting to "treat us as adults" is a little unfounded, because not everyone playng here is an adult. Sure, *most* of us are, but not everyone.
As most of you know, a lot of parents are very clueless about their children's computer usage, and have only heard the naughty bad things. All SL needs is one parent to come by, see their child naked in front of a bunch of people, and boom, large group of parents calling SL the downfall of our society.
Ok, I'm exagerating, but the game is rated PG (correct me if I'm wrong on that) and therefore, the areas that are rated PG should be treated as such. As Phoenix said, how hard is it to make a folder of body parts and drag that on? Really, how hard is that?
Oh and symbolic links to items would RAWK!

Nala, while I totally understand your concern, I have to say, it's not really our concern. For one very simple explanation: SL is 18+. True, minors can and do get in the game, but they're breaking the rules doing so.
If minors -were- officially allowed, then yes, I agree, great lengths have to be taken. Probably the Mature sims would have to dissapear.
Luckily, they aren't allowed. I feel sorry that there may be minors in the game illegally, but I don't feel we should have to adjust the rules and make exceptions in play-style because someone -might- be in the game illegally.
On a slightly different note, the PG sims. They're PG not G. People seem to forget that one sometimes. Just wanted to toss that one out there.

Some great ideas being tossed around here! I agree that I miss the take off all clothing option. The reasons players like that option varies, but I think most agree that it has its value.
Oh, and Kris, someone else came across a bug while putting on one of my outfits. They wore it fine one day, then the next day they put it on and all that was there were the default white pieces and they were all mishapen. Very weird. Anyway, try to contact me in game (or I'll get in touch with you) and I'll be happy to give you new pieces at no cost to replace your lost ones. Then if the old ones every reappear, you can either give them back or delete them. Whatever is fine. And so sorry for the bug. No idea where these new bugs are coming from but I'm sure it is *not* just happening with my designs.

And how hard was it not to click on the menu option "Remove All Clothing"? Was it that difficult for some people to comprehend what the label meant? My issue is that they are trying to 'protect' those PG eyes at the expense of everyone else. Boo on that. And these are NOT naked people. They are avatars.. anatomically INCORRECT, at that. Its just silly that Americans are so freakishly afraid of nudity. Like we were all born donning our gay apparel.

Then Linden Labs should politely inquire as to why their child has signed up for a game that clearly states players should be 18+. And shortly after that, the child should be banned from SL. Which should solve the difficulty about seeing naked avatars without nerfing features for those of us old enough to legally view the online equivalent of barbie dolls.

Apparently it was, because when the huge influx happened, I can't remember how many naked people I saw running around not even knowing, and then when being told they were naked, having no clue how to dress themselves. Sure, having a folder with body parts is just a click-and-drag away, but you do have to know a little bit about the game to learn how to save body parts, so it does put a small learning barrier there. Again, only the account holder must be 18, according to the TOS, and I know quite a few people who appear to not live in the US still playing. (I don't know for sure, so don't ask. ) Who can say who is actually playing the avatar? And again, when has breaking the rules to play a game stopped rampaging parents from casting blame?

sorry nala, i still dont agree. protecting the masses from the mistakes of a few is inane. period.
lindens, how about you give us the option to 'activate' a 'remove all clothing' menu option. something similar to how you can turn on the debug menu. that would satisfy those of us who like our button, while keeping noobies from running around nekkid, accidentally.

I too have a "Naked Folder" which I have used only once to strip my clothing off. I've only used it once because it also strips all my accessories: 6 Torso/neck accessories, 1 leg accessory and 6 face accessories = 13 items to replace on my body which are not clothing after i use the "naked folder". Because of this, I may as well take off the clothing items 1 at a time. Of course not many have my problem Briana Dawson

What if simlinks were implemented in terms of a "private copy"? That is, the user could choose a context menu item, and it would do a normal copy except that one would be (no copy)(no transfer)? It utilizes existing game mechanics and terms that people are accustomed to. This option would be available on anything the user owns, much like delete, and when the original is given away or destroyed, the private copies are too.
Or just do it in terms of shortcuts/aliases, to use the Windows/Mac terms. I think most people would understand that terminoligy.

From: someone Originally posted by Stewart Fallingbridge Hikaru, it sounds as if you didn't enjoy our company...
I like the idea of static underwear while in PG sims. Also, the idea where outfits replace or add to the existing clothing being worn. I have to admit that I have had accidents where I was at the greeting area and decided to change my outfit, only to find that my pants, underwear, socks, and shoes were replaced by nothing. Embarrasing in a large group... eeeeeeeeek, noooooo i love noobs. But its just that because they are noobs they are lost and confused about the camera controls.

I would have to say that if anyone caught their kid playing Second Life, and made some hissyfit about adult content instead of just quietly cancelling the account ASAP, then a call should be placed with Child Protective Services.
Parents that can't even be bothered to check and see that the game is 18+ only, before handing over their credit card number, are seriously putting their kids at risk.
Besides, it isn't legal for minors to be playing. Why haven't we been hearing from parents' groups about kids signing up to pay-per-view porn sites with their parent's ignorant approval? I don't believe there's been any such lawsuits, despite how deep their pockets are.
