lately in updates a few minor unimportant but very convenient features have disapeared. now a new one that's just plain inconvenient.
why in god's name would the Take Off > All Clothes option disapear? now if you want to change to a swimsuit you have to laboriously take off every single piece of clothing individually or clutter up your inventory with tons and tons of "outfits". this is just a pointless removal of something that serves a good purpose. it wasn't broke so why was it fixed?

Yes Kissmi, this is extremely annoying. And you can't make tons of outfits because all the new clothing is no copy so mixing & matching of items for multiple outfits is out of the question. Also, dropping folders of clothing on me is just tedius since I then I have to go and re-attach my accessories. Briana Dawson

thanks Briana i forgot that no copy clothing ruins the whole idea of outfits (which isn't very good to begin with). thanks for bringing that up.
a much better version of outfits would be not to make copies of items (which swells your inventory and slows your loading) but just to let you point to the item in your inventory with kind of an imaginary link. then you could include an item in multiple outfits even though you only ever have one of them just like in real life. also, and this is my biggest pet peeve about outfits, they should swap the item in the outfit for the similar item you're wearing not replace everything. i had a very embarassing newbie moment when i dropped an outfit on myself in public that only contained a couple pieces of jewelry. i thought they would add to what i was wearing not strip it off.

Shortcuts/Symbolic Links to clothing would be a great idea. I've found this annoying too..... along with losing the 'take off all clothing' option.... as Bri said, it's a pain to have to go through and do everything manually once at a time just to put on a swimming suit.

I have a feeling this is because so many newbies were getting naked at the Welcome Area. They see that option, and they assume it's okay where they currently are. Also, why'd we lose the great camera when sitting? It sucks now!

Sim links used to exist in the inventory, but the UI did not explain them very well. Since most people had a hard time understanding sim links, and the UI was difficult, we decided to drop them. If we can come up with a good way to represent them through the inerface, they will return. As for 'take off all clothes', it was decided that a community standards violation should not be two mouseclicks away. Besides, now you can slowly undress in front of your friends which is way more fun than doffing everything at once.

I spend very little time in PG sims.

How about a warning button window

How about placing a verify window that warns you about getting naked and requires you check click ok? Is it possible to detect if a person is in mature or PG and then determine if the warning window is needed or not? The latter part is gravy, but i could live with clicking a warning window before getting my birthday suit (wait, that would be a sky blue cotton sweat suit, right?) Briana Dawson

good idea Briana. it doesn't make any sense at all to make things inconveient for everyone forever just to stop a few people who would take everything off one at a time to grief anyway. and it's definitely possible for them to check if you're in a mature sim or not. they have to do that to put (PG) or (MATURE) after the name of the sim you're in on the UI.

I agree that this is problematic - first it was the removal of focus on, now the removal of all clothing as an option. A TOS violation is one click away at all times just by typing - it seems a rather lame reason to remove a feature that a lot of people use to quickly change clothing, especially in light of the annoying new copy protection on clothing (not saying that clothes should not be protected, but they should be copyable in inventory and non-transferrable when saved into a new outfit). Please bring back this feature, we are not 12 year old children who need protected from the big bad cartoon avatar nudity.

Couldn't you just make an "outfit" in your appearance folder that had no clothing?

*bites tongue*
Apologies for the flippant remark.
I really want that feature as well, since it makes it much easier to mix-n-match clothes on the fly. The real problem as noted by James is that new users would either accidentally or intentionally drop all their clothes, and either cause a disruption or stand around embarrassed unsure of how to get dressed again. We will see what we can do to get something in that works better for everyone.

yeah, about the camera thing. Its hard to give Balloon Tours. My camera leaves tha balloon everytime i try to turn. And i got a bunch of noobs on board asking me how to get the camera back. Its hard to look around unless in mouselook, and you can't select stuff in mouse look O.o

Phoenix, since you're reading, here's your "alternative idea".
How about a "down to undies" button which would take off all clothing but put on bottom/top underwear. Easy, no?

From: someone And i got a bunch of noobs on board Hikaru, it sounds as if you didn't enjoy our company... I like the idea of static underwear while in PG sims. Also, the idea where outfits replace or add to the existing clothing being worn. I have to admit that I have had accidents where I was at the greeting area and decided to change my outfit, only to find that my pants, underwear, socks, and shoes were replaced by nothing. Embarrasing in a large group...

Embarrasing in a large group... I did exactly this last night at show and tell Excepting that with the incredible lag I experienced all night last night, I was the only one who didn't know I was topless. As some wag pointed out, I managed to bring a whole new meaning to the phrase show and tell... ... what really annoyed me about it is that I should have had one of Pendaris fantastic outfits on, and now it appears I have lost two out of three of the pieces to a bug or something. Not in Lost & Found or Trashcan.

From: someone Originally posted by Phoenix Linden Sim links used to exist in the inventory, but the UI did not explain them very well. Since most people had a hard time understanding sim links, and the UI was difficult, we decided to drop them. If we can come up with a good way to represent them through the inerface, they will return. One alternative: when we "Create outfit" in the appearance editor, rather than creating a new folder containing copies of all the objects (and moving all the uncopyable objects), it creates a single "Outfit object", which contains symlinks to all the individual clothing items and attachments. It could also contain links to the current shape, hair, skin, and eye objects if we select those as well. Drag the outfit object onto your AV, and all the linked body objects, clothing objects, and attachments are worn. Throw the outfit object in a folder with a few individual objects, and drag the folder onto your AV, and the outfit gets applied, with the individual objects added afterward (allowing you to create variations on an outfit). Unresolved questions: how to handle dangling links: outfits that include items that you have deleted or transferred? How to transfer outfit objects that contain a mix of transferable and non-transferable items?

Symbolic links shouldn't be too hard to display graphically. Just insert an arrow icon between the normal icon and the object name.
I'm nearly always obsessive about keeping everything clean and tidy in my organizations, and I hate having to make copies of objects when I just want them to be part of two folders. If symbolic links were possible, I'd store most of my objects in one set of directories, and then use links everywhere else that I access them for normal use.

Or have virtual symbolic links (aliases) in the inventory that don't have any special appearance, but all refer to the same key.
In other words, it can LOOK like you have multiple copies of a non-copyable item in your inventory, but they are all actually the same item. Wear one, and all of them go bold and (worn). Drop one into the world, and all "copies" in the inventory are dropped as one item into the world.
This way there is no distinction between the original and an alias to worry about representing in the list. But multiple copies of an item can be sorted into separate folders.
This is good not only for clothing and attachments that you may want to incorporate into different outfits, but also for textures and objects that may be part of several groups. For instance, I may have folders of stone, ground, and plant textures I use in all my builds. Then I may also want a folder with all the textures a particular build uses. Right now, there's no way to have the same texture in both places.
The protection scheme should prevent copies, yes, but inside of the closed world of a player's inventory, there's no harm in the same object (same key) being listed several times.

Then in unix terminology it would be a hard link But seriously, the problem here is what if you decide to drop your non copyable hat onto the ground instead of wearing it? I suppose a dialog could come up saying you are about to destroy the other links if you have more than one and do that.
