Well, it wasn't any of us except two or three people, and you don't need to tell them what they did because well, they know. You told us about what happened because you wanted us involved. Sure you probably wanted a bunch of "tisk tisk on them for behaving that way, how dare they do that to you?" but that never works in these forums. Someone will find a way to blame you.

Right now we are stuck in a big loop, I am saying chill out and people will stop attacking you, you are saying how can I chill out when people are attacking me. Well, you don't have power over those people just yourself and it was your behavior that caused the mistreatment, it wasn't mistreatment that caused your behavior, so you should stop first.

Or you can always continue on the path and make your "You people suck, I am leaving" post in about another 3 days.

Additionally he asked that you tithe 1000 L$ to my organization so I can buy a nifty brand new luxury vehicle for my holy work in game.

A 1300 L$ donation will allow me to buy a top of the line SMG / assault weapon so that I may randomly kill heathens like we did back in the good ‘ol days.

He implied with appropriate tithe you would be forgiven for your lustful thoughts, eating shellfish, and all the coveting you have done (his words not mine).

Jon, you noted in public conversation in the start area (during the horrendous sim lag issues yesterday) that "Jon Morgan" is actually a replacement avatar made after having something bad happen with your previous incarnation. Even if you are familiar with SL and the forums, the above suggestions to ease into conversation and society as a whole are worth taking to heart. You may know us, but we don't know you, and a little more time to acclimate might have gone a long way.

Also, if you find yourself repeating familiar unpleasant patterns, perhaps it's time to try a different approach?

Jon, regardless of why you were told the things you were, they were right. The welcome area is not the place to be enlisting. Saying you're offering them a choice of joining a group is really just a front, because being new yourself, I'm sure you realize how overwhelming it can be when you land on that welcome area pad. Not too much different than offering a piss-drunk woman the option of having sex or not. It's taking advantage of a vulnerability.

If you want to recruit for a Newbies group, try attending events geared toward newbies, like the Newbie Welcome Wagons and Newbie Socials. That would give you an opportunity to not only invite, but to explain what the group is about and allow people to make an educated decision, instead of just being bombarded with sales pitches the minute they step off the Port Pad.
