lol you know what the gist of this whole thread is? Some people just never got past the stage where they dont like to be spanked when they've been naughty.

It's the mentality of petulant 7 year olds and its silly.

You accept the fact that these forums are moderated and yet when this actually occurs someone leaps five feet up in the air and cry injustice - its not the banning of freedom of speech its MODERATION. Linden Labs are Mother & Father here and if you cant deal with that then you need to go to an un-moderated forum sharpish.

Heavy moderation is good for forums. Just like having rules and a police force is good for society. It keeps the destructive urges of man from wreaking havoc at the wrong times.

But it is very vital that everyone is moderated equally.

Again, I invite mods to visit other successful forums around the web, such as WebMasterWorld or Penny Arcade. The mods are very senior and they understand that it's better to jump in early when people are trying to provoke rather than later, when all hell is broken loose.

I find your post highly ironic, considering the personal attacks you just lobbed. Go away.

I find it even more ironic seeing as I did not mention anyone's name, but you know what they say - if the cap fits - wear it.

I'm all about Pathfinder. He seems fairly no-nonsense.

Nolan,

To point out something that shouldn't need pointing out:-

If you say that someone is 'prostituting themselves' you are using prostitution as a metaphor. You are not calling them a prostitute.

I am fully aware it was a metaphor, the point I was trying to make was that if one is going to toss about insultive metaphor, and/or agree with said metaphor, then they should expect a return volley. It wasn't really the specific choice of metaphor which was aggravating, which I explained in a related thread, it was the assumption of motive and the hypocrisy of screaming bloody murder, when people are simply responding in kind.

There are folks on these boards who are apparently so sure of their "clairvoyance" that they will actually make threads based upon it. Then they will go on to belittle people on a personal level with metaphor or agreement to metaphor involving prostitution, tell people that they are beneath them, and when people push back, they scream "you're picking on me!" They will moan, "it was figure of speech", yet when someone uses a figure of speech in return, "Attention Whore" in this case, they will forget all about the figure of speech stuff and fixate on the word "whore".

Disclaimer: I didn't attribute any of the above statements to particular people, although by now, I think we all know who said what. If you made any of the statements above, please assume I am attributing only that which you said to you.

Hehe, Talen, I have to say I'm in agreement with you.

I do want to respond to one comment though, that we've said you can't criticize a group. What we've said is you can't attack a group of people, any more than you should feel free to attack a single person. The operative word here is "attack". To disagree with the opinions or behaviors of an individual or a group is one thing. To call them names, swear at them, or accuse them of unsupported nefarious acts is another.

One of the problems with this forum is that you can't see that some of us are neither screaming or moaning, we're merely sharing our perspectives on the issues.

Where I merely see theoretical disagreement, others see anger and frustration.

Unfortunately, because people see emotional discord they tend to react with more emotional discord, ie: insults and offensive language. It's a natural limitation of the forum.

I think if we had these discussions in world, I bet anything they'd be a lot more polite.

edit: I'd hope they'd be a lot more polite..

Right, and metaphor accusing others in this manner, "I guess that bedazzled is going to reach profitability one way or not - even if it means prostituting themselves." (do I need to point out that you have NO clue whether or not Bedazzled is profitable - which makes this statement an obvious ad hominem?), or "They are not my equal cus they lowered them selves to showing tites (sic) and pussy."(the owner of this quote now wants profanity filters after using profanity herself up to and including "fucking asshole"...) is "theoretical disagreement" and contains zero emotional value, nor should should anyone respond with emotion when confronted with it.

blaze, you and Cat both complained about how you have supposedly been treated in that thread and in these forums. The screaming and moaning part was a description of yours and Cat's reaction after people returned insults to you two, who started it off. Don't dish if it you can't take it, and for goodness' sake, don't think you can whitewash it all by repackaging a thread that started as an attack on a group, one which you contributed more attacks to, as "theroretical disagreement". Some of us are not blind.

Heh heh. Geez, man, I apologized like four times for that remark.

I make one hyperbolic statement, and I never hear the end of it. Everyone else makes at least 3 of them per message, and it never gets brung up again.

Obviously, I am not perfect and I will make mistakes and I fully expect to be called out on them. However, once I'm corrected for my inaccuracy and I admit to seeing the error of my ways, don't you think we could drop the issue?

Again, there was no screaming or moaning on my part. Except perhaps when Pathfinder decided to start closing threads. I have to admit that was annoying, but I certainly wasn't "screaming" or "moaning".

I think you're assuming something on my part which simply does not exist, Nolan, and it is this assumption which has lead you to consistently (almost, one might accurately say, obsessively) reply to my posts.

You know, you can just forget the forum moderators, and all the rest of this commentary, and just do what you feel is right. Post as you will after considering the consequences. I generally don't consider whether or not this or that forum admin is going to like what I'm saying. I have something to say, I feel I'm justified in saying it, I'll say it, and I don't give a damn what anybody thinks. Surprisingly, to my knowledge, other than my post regarding how I was openly and blatantly insulted by a liason in a place where other liasons could see it (for lack of a better reason they pulled out "privacy";), I have never had a post removed, nor have I ever received a warning (not even for the mentioned post).

If your posts are consistently moderated, perhaps LL and you are just fundamentally juxtaposed on a variety of character and conduct issues; you're sense of right and wrong just doesn't jibe with LL's. There's nothing wrong with that.

In the end, if you think LL favors people's actions (and they do, but so does everybody), and has some odd view of control over the populace that makes the the SL environment unpleasant for you, then push it until you get banned, take your CC# and leave. LL will wash away your posts and account, and that's that.

Read my sig line, if that's not moaning i don't know what is.

As far as assumption - that's about all you do blaze - assume that SL is going down the toilet, assume that LL, is financially inviable, assume that there is a contingent of players who are controlling SL, do I need to go on?

You're a fine one to accuse others of obsessive behavior, I can't remember a day in months, where you didn't make some sort of reference to your bogeyman, the "FIC". Point is; if you obsess on things consistently, and in the public eye, you might attract attention.

If you noticed, I hadn't replied to anything you said since yesterday, because honestly, it's like talking to a wall. Time to reinstate that policy. There is no reasoning with those who will not be reasoned with. I hope someday you learn to enjoy SL for what it is and not what you think it should be. Peace.

Tcoz Bach,

Interesting advice. Please remind me never to hire you to man a suicide hotline.

And before that gets taken out of context (it will, of course, we all want to find fault in one another), let me just point out that I'm only trying to say in a funny way that quitting is rarely the right option.

Oh, and I've only really gotten one warning from SL and that was when I flooded the sandbox with too many prims, once. But I don't think it was a formal warning, it was just someone who deleted all my prims without telling me.
