i am wondering, considering myself quite sane, is there any reason some peoples are moving around with enough diamons to open a jewelry with all this so annoying bling scripts? is it a sign of elevation to stack blings like pancakes? no hey honestly, what is even "nice" in allthese fake sparkling ?

Because the majority of SL'ers seem to be devoid of anything resembling taste or style?

Well bling is partially helpfull in somecases lolol, it can act as a homing beacon until you managed to force sunset in the dark to find the person lmao.
Personally i probably have one small piece i wear rarely, only other piece of jewellry is a watch which has no bling but is functional, with moving dials etc. Thing ive been seeing now is the bling on and off ok thats good but now its using a listen on the main channel _____________________

Yeah, my eyes hurt, particularly in the welcome area!
Here's a tip... control-alt-shift-= That will toggle particles on and off, I always turn 'em off before hitting the welcome area. I still get a laugh out of some avatar that claimed her bling was "suttle" (not subtle, but suttle) and then proceeding to neg rate Kex and I for some comments about the entire point of bling being the opposite of "suttle". ![]() -Flip _____________________

People think it's pretty. I built a grapevine that manifests a particle texture so that you see the vine, foliage and grapes from any angle, even looking down. But it stops working when it's too near a particle fountain or bling queen. But then, particles are just a toy like everything else inworld.

My guess is that it's just like real life, where some people prefer huge everything, and lots of it, too... necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, anklets, armbands and sometimes even gold teeth, firmly believing not only that it's suttle but that it makes them look good. *head explodes*

I was rather horrified when I came back to sl after being away for a few months, and everyone had bling jewelery, it's so tacky...

I would love a copy to hang on my cabin in Taber. Really want to put some vines on it and this sounds so pretty! ![]() And Bling is something I think is neat to see on others, in small doses. hehe.. I don't have any myself. Hell, it is hard enough to get me to wear any jewelry at all in SL, much less the shiney stuff! ![]() _____________________

I don't particularly care for it either..but to each there own. It may be a form of PRIMitive mating ritual. Instead of shaking tail feathers, they blind the opposite sex and then pounce...

well with a friend wez where thinking it was the contrast with reality, in RL most of us cant afford diamon tiara or big diamons so i guess the fact its cheap in sl make a counter balancing

I thought we had this discussion the other day, but then I see that my post wasn't here.
I have bling. But when /bling off doesn't work I just throw on my studded collar and spiked Goth jewelry. No bling, but it has the same effect on people. vuja de - the feeling that you've never been there before (thanks, Robin Williams) |

Because the majority of SL'ers seem to be devoid of anything resembling taste or style? I can happily say I completely lack both taste and style. _____________________

I'll take the high road here - why is there so much "blings" around?
Because like rl, SL is a diverse community with members who like different things. Don't knock it. Someone told you how to turn off your particles so you can't even see the bling. But if everyone was exactly alike in SL, it would be a pretty boring place )) |

I was in the sandbox a few days ago building and saw this girl who had Mega Bling. She had a necklace, upper arm bands, belt, bracelets, rings, and anklets all blingin like mad. Thought she was helping land planes or something. The bling extended out like 4 ft from her av. I think it would have been easier and less expensive to just wear a sign over her head that said "LOOK AT ME!!" A little bling isn't bad, I have a pretty ruby ring I got from Hearts Store that throws off a tiny bit of bling every 2 minutes or so...very cute and not annoying to others.

I'm going to start a new trend. It's called BLANG.
BLANG is bling to the nth power. If you've ever seen a case of bling so extreme that your graphics card starts to melt and simulatiously screams "HELP MEEEEEEEE" in that creepy voice from "The Fly" then you've been privy to the awesome power of BLANG. The only thing more attention-getting than BLANG is a particle script that spews graphics of giant hammers hitting you repeatedly over the head at a rate of 150 per second. _____________________

I just got my first bling last week from Stormy Roentgen. I'm not planning on getting any more, but I really like it (she did it very simply and tastefully). It's just a simple diamond necklace (one diamond).
