That's strange, I was thinking the same thing earlier.
I'd wear that bad boy with pride. I think I may have posted this before (deja vu) |

Everyone who signed up as a lifetimer during beta was mailed a lifetime poster and a Second Life t-shirt. A few lucky winners won a book, as well as a few others who won posters that featured their avatar.

I just got a regular quarterly subscription at the end of beta and they sent me the poster/T-shirt.
I wouldn't mind having another T-shirt, one I could wear, 'cause my name's on the one they sent me and I don't want to wear that out. ![]() _____________________

I forgot who wrote the book, it was some Sci-Fi thriller...
Oh, Huns, sound like that was a mistake! I bet Tanya is going to want that stuff back ![]() _____________________

We're thinking about selling SL merchandise on the website, sometimes for $US and sometimes for $L. Maybe we'll even auction rare items (think SL hand medallion made by a local artisan). What do you think about that?
Probably won't happen until early next year, though. _____________________

I'd love to have the prerequisite "stuff" that's sold... bumper stickers ("My other car in Second Life is a jetpack" , movie-type posters, etc.Heck, maybe you could even get into the record business There's, gosh, probably at LEAST 5 SL players that are musicians with recorded songs... you could sell the cds on the website, as SL compilations ![]() LF _____________________

When I was part of EQ women, they had a girl there who owned a T-shirt shop through Cafepress.com -- she would make t-shirts every year for the EQ women board to raise money for their ezboard gold status and they sold like hotcakes. She made other EQ stuff too -- t-shirts that said things like "I be epic'd" and "Druid and Proud" and other crazy things.
There are so many good designers here, why doesn't someone just open their own Cafepress shop with SL stuff? Hmmm. . .I should talk to my entrepenurial hubby . . . If we take photos of our avatars, as I understand the new policy, we own those photos, so taking pics of things in game and using them on a t-shirt wouldn't violate any copyright laws. Why hasn't someone done this already?? Zana _____________________

You can buy T-shirt printing "paper" from any computer store.
Take your own picture, download it, print it to T-shirt paper and make your own T-shirt... _____________________

What about...
12-18-2003 08:02
... using our own copyright - retained images from within SL to make SL merchandise of our own? For instance, could I start selling Bhodi Tree Artists Gallery coffee mugs? Just a thought... Can we use in-world screen shots to create "in-world brand" items?

I forgot all about cafepress...
They take alot of money out of your price, though, and they are expensive if you wanna make any sort of money. LF _____________________

If I wanted to make any sort of RL stuff, what is the LL rules regarding that? I mean, wouldnt it say SL on there somewhere? If it did, Im sure LL would have issue over use of their logo.
Please address LLs views on SL logo usage, rules etc. _____________________

If you choose to make SL merchandise and reference the SL name or our logo, then you'll need to use a TM next to the name/logo. The logo art is located in the Fan Site Toolkit.
The TOS will be amended to allow the use of SL environmental and avatar textures so that you can use screenshots which highlight your own designs without it being an issue. (That language will be included in the v1.2 version of the TOS.) Again, however, if you reference the SL name and/or logo, please use a TM. _____________________

Robin's post is phenomenal and maybe even unprecedented in the annals of online gaming. Linden Lab is truly a company dedicated to the players.
This is an unpaid endorsement. Of course I would have no problem if it became paid. ![]() |
