i wouldn't. not because i didn't think it would be fun, but because i'm trying to not get sucked back in to the computer field. already done the programmer/qa engineer/qa manager thing. now i go on to things i enjor more (though pay much less).

They haven't advertised for a technical writer/online help dev that I've noticed, but I would be unlikely to apply anyway.
One of the things I love about SL is that it is not my FL. If my RL day is crappy, I can come chill in SL. Also, having to give up my current way of playing would be no fun either. _____________________

I would have applied for some of their openings in the past, but they required physically being in CA, which isn't feasible for me.
I was surprised to be the only one so far to select QA engineer as one of my choices -- an even more surprised that one of the top choices so far was customer service! Then again, there have only been 13 votes, and we know how notoriously unreliable these polls are. neko _____________________

I would apply but there are people who I know that are extremely well if not over qualified for the job and didn't get hired by LL. After seeing such talented and experienced people not get a job as even a liaison, that did it for me.

While this is indeed a shame, its also true that Linden Lab has its "pick of the litter", not just from residents... but look at some of the recent hires... an all-pro from Macromedia and so on! I'd look at it as "At their current employee growth rate, there's no way they can hire everyone who is talented who would love to work for them." Also, for liaison, consider location; most new liaison hires have been from Europe and Australia, or the East Coast of the US rather than the west. If you're STILL not convinced that Aimee Weber is Jeff Linden, I don't know what other proof I can show ya!  -Flip _____________________

Yashu Linden... has a nice ring to it. I think maybe the best way to change LL for the better is to work it from the inside anyway... Fighting them from outside their fortress is too damn hard. Yes I know Liason has little real say in how LL runs the show... but just how a good cop can make a difference in people's lives rather then just meet a quota... I think I would be alright as a liason. |

I wouldn't mind being a pie maker at Linden Labs so I could put my education to good use especially since I know far more about making pies than I do about computers. I figure if I make good pies, serve them Starbucks coffee and bounce around in my cute little waitress uniform I will eventually get promoted to Engineer or Top Dog or something.
