From: someone Originally posted by Eggy Lippmann I never really understood this. Do you people all have your own house IRL? I know america is the de facto capital of urban sprawl but this is ridiculous. My dream place is precisely an apartment on top of a huge skyscraper, preferrably the biggest one in the city so I get a cool view of the concrete jungle around me Personally I would like to see a skyscraper themed sim where there is only ONE building which would be a giant skyscraper of realistic proportions (meaning 4 or 5 hundred meters tall). Pity that we can only fit about 30 people in the same sim From my experience, a lot of SL players are from areas like California or the Northwest.... so no, a lot of us don't own our own houses RL... and can't. (Housing costs are amazingly expensive in a number of American cities.) So SL is a way for us to do so.

when i first started playing i went and built a log cabin in the most country-ish sim i could find. it was really fun. but it was really hard to find the land, and i had to talk to the neighbores before i moved in. i rent an apt in RL and i can't wait to buy my own house.

From: someone Originally posted by Einsman Schlegel As for more land.. yea. Id say its a needed commodity. Mature Sims would releive the stress on the others. And a point taken here.. Since we're all adults.. (and I know this can be argued extensively) whats with all the PG sims anyway? Is there some plan to let underaged users into the picture here or am I just blaintly mistaken? Personally, I believe the use of the term "PG" in a game which "requires" age verification as silly at best. I have thought long and hard about this the past few weeks. I think we should simply have "residential" sims and "commercial" sims. Designate some of the "commercial" and "residential" sims as "commercial-M"and "residential-M". Most of the ppl I have met in "PG" sims are VERY much adults, capable of handling adult conversations and situations, however they may want to live in an area free from the worry that their neighbor will produce 10m spinning cubes, faced with porno pic textures, and the like. Not that much different from RL at all... Would you be happy if the above mentioned spinning cube appeared in your RL neighborhood? It wouldn't and it couldn't last, due to zoning, ordinances and laws. While I am in no way offended by porn pics, I do believe they have their time and their place. I need to touch on the original topic of this thread. Please, more room, and please land ownership caps. I fly around regularly looking at available land. There is so much unused land locked up by land barons it baffles the mind. I need a small peak with a narrow piece of land leading up to the top for a project I started months ago. I already have the necessary scripts and textures for said project. The only thing stopping me is the lack of suitable, unowned land. Also, there is ALOT of Linden owned land out there too. Wouldn't releasing some of it soften the finacial blow to LL when deciding how many new servers (sims) to add? Nearly no available land and avatar-less sims (most of them). Something needs to be done to correct this.

I've been wanting that for a long time.. why do the Lindens need so much? I can understand the newbie areas and such... but I find linden owned land in the weirdest places that I beleive shouldn't be.
And yes.. there does need to be some caps on how much land you can actually own. People will argue that you can never own too much. But there has to be a limit to how much you can own since it gives others a chance to create their own. I thought there was a cap in place where a person cannot hold more than 1/16 of a sim? I guess that cap is gone now?

There has never been such a cap. That was only for themed communities.

I cant wait to see how the opening of new sims effects the land ownership in other parts of the world. So, here is a tip for you. While some are rebuilding in the north, look around the south, you might find some sweet land waiting for your build.
I would hate to see land ownership capped. If you can afford it, you ought to be able to have a lot of land if you want it. Iam just afraid that caps on land would lead to other restrictive limitations. Part of the fun is pondering the unknown and seeing it happen, I think land barons and/or the lack of land add drama to it all.
