Thanks Ulrika, this provides me with something to consider but not relative to this thread. More in regards to a to ignore or not to ignore discussion.
Understood. Spawned as its own thread.

Well, on that recommendation, I actually went back and read the entire post, despite it being longer than my hand. I am shocked by the hateful rhetoric.

What's particularly upsetting about this post, is that like anti-Semitic, racist, or sexist diatribes I've read in the past, it has a nasty habit of comparing opponents with animals. This is an abominable way of casting other human beings as subhuman and thus justifying their subhuman treatment (this rhetorical technique was extensively used in anti-Semitic Nazi propaganda). I've extracted a few of the worse subhuman comparatives from the text and listed them below, which are used to describe opponents:

Honestly, this is one of the worst posts I have ever seen posted in the forums. There is no room for hateful diatribes riddled with subhuman analogies. It is simply unacceptable.

You know what, you are right Ulrika! I am really surprised how you provided a completely new perspective to look at this post. Even though I strongly disagree with vast majority of things you write, I now feel compelled to agree with you and in a profound manner completely reverse my original opinion. You are definitely now in my list of people whose opinion I should respect here.

... By far, the most amusing part of this thread is the knee-jerk replies by people self-identifying, but trying to discredit the concepts. I liken it to the old 'Wizard of Oz' scene where he's yelling for everyone to ignore the man behind the curtain. All the more amusing for the reality that by replying they're keeping it alive longer. ...

It's funny to hear you say that Cienna as I've been thinking the exact same thing. That we have amongst us a few very vocal forum wizards who think they actually have one pulled over on the rest of us.

You said many things in your initial post I couldn't bring myself to say though have thought many times. Even though I've been in SL for almost two years and have frequented the forums regularly, I rarely post. I hate encouraging the verbally vicious by posting, yet I am disgusted by the pseudo intellectual games they play.

is this thread making character attacks against an undefined group of players for making character attack against an undefined group of players? is this thread performance art? a forum installation expressing the inherent paradox of forum reformation?

No, this thread is about extreme hyperbole and a logical fallacy called "appeal to emotion".

This is an enjoyable reply for me. I get to not only call you a liar, but to do so smiling.

Not that you have in any manner surprised me, mind you. Perhaps you're just getting sloppy in your age.

Entertaining as ever, Ulrika. Do let me see you slam into the brick wall once more, won't you?

No, it's not, Jauani.

I think this post, it's original installment, is a work of literary genius worthy of repeat only in the hopes of spreading and decimenating it's inherent wisdom to the masses so that some may be spared the somehow tantalizing allure of a few "morbid ambulance chasers".

I should think it easy enough to see that this post is a word of warning, a clearly and well thought out sign post if you will that says "HEED MY WORDS, IGNORING MORONS CAN BE GOOD FOR YOU!"

But alas, some will not get it, which, ironically enough, is outlined in the context of the original post it's self. So perhaps in that regard, the fact that you (and apparently a few others) do NOT get it, is an indication of the authors prophetic vision!
Although unlikely, if that be the case then I say hats off to Ms. Cleo! I drink a toast to her wisdom!

I TOTALLY get it. In fact, in my understanding of the finer points of this thread's original post, I found my self laughing so hard in understanding and amusement that I made the damn dog bark and both cats run in complete terror and bewilderment!

Bravo I say again! Bravo!!

that sounds a lot like the arguement of "the hegemony ends now." you see, that is the irony.

If one actually keeps track of who is fostering these little soap operas, one sees they are restricted to about ten people out of the overall number registered. New alternate accounts are added as needed to provide the appearance of support... usually exposing themselves by referencing events or history their registration date demonstrates impossible for them to know.

I think you might be a little over paranoid. There are plenty of articles in the history wiki and posts on the forum that can teach anyone in a matter of a month or so details that happend in Second Life long before they came around. It seems a little overboard to assume that people are alts just because they know a small bit about the history of SL when the information is everywhere.

Some people can be obviously the same person when they make all the same typos and use the same speaking style as another person with the exact same views, but history alone seems like a rather weak thing to pick out alts from. In the end I'm not really sure why alts matter enough to try to pick them out. A person's argument doesn't really get stronger when I see the same mistake made 10 times. Even if I see the same good point made 10 times, all I needed was the first mention of that point.
