Lets talk about Hate!

Ours is a world of many conflicts because we are still ignorant. On all sides of us, we see the contending forces of good and evil. Many people would have us believe that evil is as much a reality as good; they would have us believe that there are two opposing forces at work in the universe – God and the devil. Such people are accepting opinion evolved during the darkest ages of mankind, when all things were judged by appearances. The slightest thought on the matter makes it apparent that both God and the devil could not exist. There can only be one Creator. God could not make the devil and the devil could not make God; there is only one truth behind the universe. If you accept the devil as being this truth, you are forced into believing that truthful things are hate, violence, robbery, murder, war, ugliness, poverty, disease and chaos, and all goodness is false. If you accept God* as being this truth, you are perceiving truthful things are love, peace, work, constructiveness, neighborliness, beauty, abundance, health and order, and all evil is false. The choice is obvious. All evil is false, evil is illusion.

Then what is the truth about hate? The truth about hate is love. Hate is simply love moving in the wrong direction. Hate is simply love turned upon itself. In the ancient Dhammapada we find, “Hatred does not cease by hatred; hatred ceases by love.” Love always overcomes hatred, for love is the truth about hatred.

Find a man who hates you and you will find a man who believes he is hated. Find a man who resents and you will find a man who feels he is resented. Find a man who is bitter and you will find a man who believes that life is treating him bitterly. Find a man who is hopeless and you will find a man who believes that no one cares for him. The common belief of all who deny love is their conviction that life does not love them. So it is that evil is born of rejected love. So it is that a man must believe that he is beloved of God* and of life before he allows love to operate through him.

Love creates, produces, heals, comforts, guides, illumines. He who makes himself one with love makes himself one with God*, and God* works through him.





*God-whatever you understand to be God. I like to use the Alcoholics Anonymous version. Whatever you feel is your higher power. It could be a big rock or your favorite beach., or that distant shining star, that place you go to where you can feel the energy behind the universe. And for all you atheists/agnostics (that are stuck up in that river in Egypt -DeNial) I am reminded of that phrase, “If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.”

A lovely romaticized notion... and utter hogwash

It all depends on your concept of God. My concept is not the traditional one of some old man with white flowing hair sitting on a throne in the clouds looking down from the heavens over his creation but that is another thread. That is why I put the God* disclaimer at the bottom of my post.

My concept of god is that there's no such thing, nor any need to create one. I am fully capable of loving both myself and others

Hey , I'm all for everyone having their own beliefs. I happen to know for a fact that I am God and that is my belief.
