What features (local lighting, shiny objects etc..) do you have activated?

Some objects look very different depending on settings. Turn off "shiny objects" and a metalic robot becomes a cardboard one, for example. Since other people see my builds, I'd like to know what settings are the most common. No use stringing up glowing lights if nobody has local lighting activated.

Thanks in advance :)

I went and checked all three, because that's what I've had for a long, LONG while now, but I've recently started trying to play without local lighting. It sucks, but my FPS is better.

I have the same problem. Local Lighting is gorgeous but it grinds things to a halt. I only activate it for photographs.

Everything on here Olympia :)
Sometimes i have to cut down the objects in view at distance, but tend to have shiny and local lights and detail at max, also the terrain one.

Local lighting on the regular mainland sucks ass.

At Living Cities, we own almost 2 sims worth of land, and will be banning all light prims except for a few of our own, so people can enjoy Local Lighting again.

Shiny is a big enough difference for me as a builder that I have to have it. The other though slow me down too much.

Sure wish I had a quick way to turn shiny on and off tho' (;_;)

I run Shiney Objects always.
Local lighting in my home sim (where it hasn't been abused) but no where else due to poor performance. Sometimes i will turn it on for photos if i can deal with the sluggishness of my client.
Shadows don't matter much to me and i never bothered turning them on.

Another point...how many people use ripple water? I have it disabled and saw it on and was amazed that my Linden water pool was actually more like a wavepool. I reverted to running wtih it off but wondered if the majority of users enable that feature as well...

I don't run with any of them unless I'm taking property photos, so I tried to submit the poll with nothing checked - it wouldn't let me. So I can't see the results! :(

My husband just upgraded from a (G4 800 MHz / GeForce 5200 32 Mb) to a (G5 Dual CPU 1.8 MHz / GeForce 5200 64 Mb) today - he got 30 fps with nothing turned on, and 14 fps with everything turned on. He's flying around like a madman now, shouting "Whee, look at me zooming in on textures! Look at me fly fast! Look at my cat flying in circles smoothly! Watch how smoothly I walk! See how quickly I can start flying after teleport!"

I'm stuck with my 2 fps average for a while, no local lighting or shiny. But I love my little jerky walk, and dancing animations that move me less than once per second! I do, really!

I dont have shadows because they SUCK.

But who can live without shiny????

Shiny, I keep on all the time, because it changes the world so much.
Shadows I keep on, but I'm not at all certain why...
Local Lighting, well.. depends where I am. I used to have it on all the time, now only when I'm at home (Stonehenge is a different place with lighting on) or if someone recommends I do to see a place.

Kept them all off on my old G4 because it was so FPS-challenged in SL.

Now I have the freedom to indulge myself, I keep Shiny on because of the nice effects it creates, particularly on things like Psyra's bird avatars.

Shadows, I wasn't too bothered about till I saw the shadows created by the clouds, creeping across my island - it was so atmospheric and realistic, I had to keep it on from there on.

Never tried local lighting because everyone says it slows things down too much, must turn it on and see what I'm missing I guess....

I tend to run with all but local light most of the time.

at an event I turn it all off and drop draw to 64

and for taking photos it's all set to maximum with a 512 draw distance (fear the lag)

working on a project light shiny and bump but no shadows and a 96 or 128 draw distance

I have all of them activated and it works great.

Except...

When I go to parties where there is many in attendance, I turn off local lighting so that I am able to move!

Have them all on.

YOU CANNOT LIVE IN SL PROPERLY WITHOUT SHINY.

Things just look crappy when they're supposed to have them, but they don't.
