The email sent out this morning contained information that was displayed only in images. Therefore, if your email is set up to receive HTML emails, but not to display images, the email may appear to be empty. However, it should include one tiny line of text at the top that reads "If you cannot see the images below, please click here." The "here" being a link, well, here:http://secondlife.com/landing/winterfest.php If you DID receive an honest-to-gootness empty email from us, please forward it to goodstuff@secondlife.com along with your email setup (Receiving HTML or text, displaying/not displaying images, etc...). ...I'm wondering if this isn't just a ploy to get out of being pelted by me at the snowball fight . -Bubble Very strange... The empty email won't let me forward it, or move it to any other folders, or even try to reply. It's just stuck there. Big an' empty an' white. Mocking me. You killed Yahoo! You bastards! _____________________

If you DID receive an honest-to-gootness empty email from us, please forward it to goodstuff@secondlife.com along with your email setup (Receiving HTML or text, displaying/not displaying images, etc...). (I am set up to receive html email, I got emails for MarthaStewart.com and Gap.com catalogues, replete with big pictures, just today.) |

BTW, I'm also set up to receive all the bells & whistles in my email.
(If I'm gonna get Porn Spam, I might as well get the pictures and flashy things!) _____________________

I work for a company with an email marketing solution. I think I should forward that mail as an example of worst-practice. If you didn't get it it was probably blocked by your provider for looking too much like spam (too much HTML ratio etc etc etc).

I got an email with a large number of broken images, and a link that, due to a quirk of Outlook Express, I couldn't copy and paste into my web browser. OE won't let you copy the address of a link, and the link showed up in the status bar as a very long series of numbers that I wasn't about to manually type into my browser.
(And as for why I couldn't simply click on the link, OE is off on a heavily-firewalled computer that is unable to make outgoing connections to the Internet except to send and recieve email.) _____________________
