At 7:25 am Pacific Time today I received a totally empty email message from LL. The heading on the email is "Second Life Winter Holiday Celebration 2004," but there is nothing in the message part. Did anybody else get this message, and what was in it?

Mine was empty too. I thought maybe my email settings had gone wonky and stopped reading html or something.

If you feel a strange urge to do something today you wouldn't normally do, like tier up and buy a sim.. we'll know there really was something in that email. :p

:) yes, i did. It must be special secret code that is only sold in the malls to decode. lol.

maybe they forgot what they were going to say. Could you imagine being the Linden who accidentally hit the send button when he/she didnt have enough coffee to drink and sat there say "Oh, crap, what did i just do?" I can because i am famous for such follies, hehe.

Thanks for the replies both letting me know I'm not alone in receiving empty emails, and what SHOULD have been in it. Thank goodness I can get snow in SL, we don't usually get any snow here in southwestern Washington State in RL at Christmastime. SL snow is the best kind, too, you don't have to shovel the driveway or scrape ice off the car windows. :)

For those of you without a secret decoder ring...
12-16-2004 09:30
The email sent out this morning contained information that was displayed only in images. Therefore, if your email is set up to receive HTML emails, but not to display images, the email may appear to be empty. However, it should include one tiny line of text at the top that reads "If you cannot see the images below, please click here." The "here" being a link, well, here:http://secondlife.com/landing/winterfest.php

If you DID receive an honest-to-gootness empty email from us, please forward it to goodstuff@secondlife.com along with your email setup (Receiving HTML or text, displaying/not displaying images, etc...).

...I'm wondering if this isn't just a ploy to get out of being pelted by me at the snowball fight ;).

The email in question was going to wish you a merry Christmas, but since a certain-list-of-people-who-I-won't name killed the Christmas spirt, the emails have vanished into the electronic ether.

Mine arrived with broken links for all but one of the images. I'd forward it to you Bub but I already deleted it.

In my fashion defense, I've changed clothes in the last few- I just like that coat best and it looked good with the whole snowball fight theme!

Now I just need to put together the perfect punk-rock xmas outfit....

How to get on the mailing list!
12-16-2004 10:32
I noticed a couple people said they weren't on the mailing list. Generally, unless you've specifically opted out, you should be on our email list. Frequently mail from Linden Lab goes into your spam folder - especially if you're using hotmail or yahoo. You can join the list, however, by going to http://secondlife.com and signing up for the newsletter (look for the sign-up on the bottom right corner of the homepage). You'll never miss a broken invite or newsletter again! :)

Thanks,
Catherine

Yeah, funny thing about that. At the photoshoot I suggested she change clothes, but she's had them on so long they've kinda grafted to her skin texture. Kinda gross when she tried to peel off that top. Sounded like unwrapping a foil covered burrito.

:D

I made a red studded punk rock belt that is all yours (ok ok ok, it's a bit more emo, but that's all in the Christmas spirit) :D

To those of us who got an empty e-mail:

If you can not say anything nice, do not say anything at all.

I guess we know how LL feels about us

You know, this holiday schedule is fine since I'm currently in Boston. But man,
I'm going to be bummed when I move out to the Bay Area and have to "work
from home" in order to make these afternoon PST/PDT events... :p
