The discovery of new land doesn't affect the amount of land we auction each week.
But the desirability of the soon-to-be-released land is affected by your Magellan campaign, thereby possibly affecting current demand for already-released land, yes?

Actually, if the new land will be available to us, the novelty of it will definitely affect the auction prices and after-auction mark-up of this land. Expect to see a sharp spike in land prices, centered around this new land, it it's to be at all available. Land prices on existing land will actually fall, as there is already plenty of it available and a lot of people will be trying to divest themselves of their Old-World land in order to afford $L and tier for land in the New World.
Hey, New World. How much does anyone want to bet that Hamlet has been awarded a placement on the expedition? |

Holy crap, I think I just poo'ed myself.
Lindens, this is a great buildup to whatever's coming. I really will poo myself if we get: -The ability to purchase/own land in this new area -An ocean passage (void sims, maybe dotted with tiny Azores-like islands) -TELEHUB-FREE????? /holds breath, hopes for volunteers to be called upon to bravely set forth and explore, and tries not to do the peepee dance. |

Thoeries:
Teen Grid: I highly doubt this. Why? Teen *Grid*, the grid would *not* be visible to us as far as I know, even on the map, this would be confusing "I can see the other grid, but can't go to it? Why?!!?!". Also, its a *continent*, not a grid. Grid implies a completely different "world" from our own. All the sims on the map you see, even private islands, are part of our *grid*, each sim is not considered a grid. I could be wrong, but I doubt its the Teen Grid. Space: Possible, but I doubt this too. Why? "Landmass", space is not a landmass. Space would also be hard logicly, the only way to pull it off is to call it another planet and have a "spaceship" on an island take you "up". I dunno, but it seems unlikely to me that it'll be anything off of our current "planet". I don't think thats a ship in the picture, I think its a flair. The picture of the landmass looks new to me, I don't recall seeing that kind of formation, could be wrong though. It looks like it has a reef of some sort in it too, as you can see a green strip surrounded by blue. It also looks like theres a small string of islands along the coast on the right side of the picture. The reason why its on the same page as the other ones is because its the "Experience" page, where new exciting news/projects in SL are announced. I doubt that it has anything to do with SL:U or any small temporary projects. Remember Magellan works on finding new land masses that we then overtake and destroy the beauty with our prims of destruction. Most likely we'll be able to do the same to this one! It could be a desert, or another type of weather oriented theme. The sims do not follow any cold weather patterns though. If you notice, the latest batch of sims are directly in a line with the Snow sims, yet, there are no snow anywhere in them. You could say that the weather is in some weird hot pocket (HOT POCKET) over in that area and the cold wind misses it... but that doesn't seem very logical. So the new continent may be any weather type, cold, hot, I doubt any strict weather patterns of sim placement are carried out (as the last batch haven't been). I'm glad to see them expanding up in the north, it'll be interisting since the other expansions have been south and east and we haven't seen northern expansion in some time. It would be neat to see WEST expansion too, but that'll never happen since thats "Island Land" and is becoming larger than the main continent like wild fire (rediculous a bit). I think the land market projection is correct, prices may drop slightly, or stay the same in the current places, but in the new land, they'll be much higher from any barons. From LL the prices will most likely be the same as LL is actualy sane and keeps land at a median. So the auctions will most likely start out at the same price, but expect new continent/landmass auctions to rise considerably more as well as any baron land for sale. As for the current land... I actualy expect the prices to stay the same and not drop at all, atleast most of them, there may be a few here or there, but eh. Thats my opinion though. The safe bet would be to wait and see what the market does, if you can wait that is, if not, don't get flustered about it, just go with the flow. I'd love to join in an expedition of some sorts! When the landmass opens we could all group together and start our own! Start from one point and go to another and chronicle our finds. Magellan is a great explorer, but sometimes him and his team miss ruins or other interisting things. ![]() _____________________

L$10 says the landmass will be north of the current sims.

bio-tech dinosaurs? makes me think of AI controlled primtures (prims + creatures ) that are possibly enabled by new prim types?
was someone listening when i suggested introducing spring-type prims? back when i suggested that there be some sort of agreement with Sodaplay to make use of their system? this would TRULY be revolutionary!!! *daydreaming* _____________________

I can be your sea winch - every good explorer needs a sea winch. what for lifting cargo? you want the line for wench which forms over there. ![]() reminds me of the joke about the barbarian chief. after they pillage the village he says "have that winch waiting in my bed tonight" and one of the horde says "why, are you still having trouble getting it up?" i guess that joke only works if you say it out loud........ |
