Snow in Sin City!
01-07-2005 10:13
It's not often that it snows in Vegas, but right now there's big fat snowflakes falling from the sky
![]() EDIT: It's starting to stick - added more pics. I know that for those of you who see snow every day this isn't very exciting, but I'm thrilled! |

I was in the one in San Francisco a few years back... what was it... 8.7? I don't remember exactly but it was NOT fun or exciting. It was quite disturbing and something I will never forget.
And yes, easily 100 times worse than a 4 or 5. 4s and 5s would happen in the night and sometimes I wouldnt even wake up. 8.7 or 9 is a different creature all together. _____________________

Well, I just moved to a new area and the weather here seems a little odd to me.
Currently there are frogs and locusts raining down from the sky. Can anyone in the Charlotte, NC area let me know if this is normal? _____________________

Well if it's raining frogs then you should: "Know your Amphibian!"

The 9.0 'Tsunami Earthquake' actually caused the Earth's rotation to speed up by approximately three microseconds per year ( 0.003 sec / yr ). Doesn't seem like very much, but then, considering the Earth masses 5.9742×10^24 kg, that's pretty significant. The effect was very much like a spinning ice-skater pulling their arms in closer to their body: a large piece of one of the tectonic plates sank deeper into the Earth.
Sadly, it looks like the asteroid due to swing by in 2029 is going to be a clean miss. Oh well. ![]() _____________________

I decided to go look that asteroid thing on Google News after Cross pointed out that it was ruled as no possibility that there would be an impact. At one point, they thought there would be a 1 in 40 chance of a collision with Earth on Friday, April 13, 2029. I thought it was astonishing that there was a 1 in 40 chance at one time and that they could time the asteroid impact at a specific date. Although the facts were revised with new data, I just thought it was cool that they came up with specific dates and astonishing probability

I'm just kinda sad that the asteroid is going to miss. Not that I want anyone to get blowed up.
Just that, if it were a sure-thing, definitely-going-to-hit, then maybe that might've convinced people down here to actually take impact risks as a serious matter, and do something about it. ![]() _____________________

There is a simple reason for the weird weather and seismic activity. Someone is touching themselves. Whoever is doing that, stop it please. It makes Jesus cry.
