JuJu - U R teh SuX0R!

haha

I honestly can't say how anyone could take those posts seriously -- gave me a good laugh though - one I've been sorely in need of today :)

i can't match the tori to match two cylnders at 18 degrees! you'd think that 5% of a cricle was 18 degrees but not in SL! in SL the laws of euclidean geometry either collapse or we need more decimal places and a better definition for pi.

this is a pitiful building tool set. i've had enough! i quit!

goodbye cruel world of suckers!

Jauani; I would like to offer a little of my time to help ya out. I understand the prims pretty well perhaps if we just worked one on one it might get a bit easier.

Best of luck if your realy leaving us. The controls might be a little sucky but surely not the entire game ;)

Is Jauani's sarcasm lost upon you people? The post was satire :-P I admit it is so sarcastic that it wraps all the way back around to serious again, but geeze!

Um, I know this is probably somewhat out of place... but to address Jauani's original "gripe"...

I've had trouble myself trying to make objects which required a greater degree of precision in setting rotations than the build tools generally allowed. I was able to get around this by using the llSetRot function in a simple script I would put in whatever object I wanted to rotate.

Do you suppose something like that might help you, Jauani? It sounds as though your problem is with the simple cut of a torus... I don't know if there's a LSL function that sets cut. There's a function that will set primitive parameters, but it only deals with some of the less-complicated stuff (type, material, size, position, rotation, etc.). In my casual perusal of the LSL help, I couldn't find anything that sets cut. Perhaps that's a thing you can request technically?

I mean, surely it would be easier for LL to implement. Rather than re-vamping the build tools to accommodate greater precision, they could just come up with a function that can set the cut of an object. I guess the only trick would be dealing with the different prim types, since some have more than one cut param.

*shrugs* Best of luck, anyway.

Phineas,

In version 1.3, the ability to cut and alter a prim via script was added. The function is:

llSetPrimitiveParams(list rules)

Check it out in the documentation - I believe almost every option that is on the Object tab is supported.

That's actually the specific command I referenced in my previous post. As far as I can tell from the documentation, there doesn't seem to be the ability to control cut or hollowness through this specific function.

At the very least, there is no primitive constant which addresses those specific attributes listed in the version of the documentation I'm referring to. One might exist. Maybe somehow I'm looking at an obsolete documentation that includes the llSetPrimitiveParams function. I just don't know.

Oh sure, you two, hijack this thread and turn it into something CONSTRUCTIVE! Way to go. I come here expecting pseudodrama and instead I see thoughtful exchange of good ideas! What is happening to the forums these days?!

Personally I can't beleive that Jauani can support such a barbaric practice!

To cut the torus so, without it's say so .. ususally very close to it's birth - due to some misconception on aesthetic.

This traumatic experience has the potential to scar it for life!

And please, the old argument of hygene is just plain BS... An uncut torus is just as easy to keep clean as a cut one.

It's just a barbaric 'ceremony' that we hold onto - and I for one would like to see it put to an end!

Siggy.
