Hehe, keeps changing...but I will try. Not all are truly metal though... Ozzy Osbourne Zakk Wylde / Black Label Society Iron Maiden Motorhead Corrosion of Conformity AC/DC Machinehead ... That's all I can think of now... and I can't think much because I am hungry... I am off to lunch.

Lots of oldschool metalheads here, that is good! So what say you guys about the other genres? Thrash, power, speed, death, black... what about em? I know I can't possibly be the only one to like alot out of these subgenres.

The only metal band I really ever got into was Def Leppard. Pyromania is one of my all-time faves!

Manowar IS good! they have quite a few bad songs but their great songs outweigh them So what are some other bands y'all like here? How about some non-traditional heavy metal? Come on, everyone knows the great bands like Iron Maiden and Priest and Sabbath, how about some lesser known bands? Stuff you should check out: Lost Horizon Darkmoor Korpiklanni Tuatha De Danaan Bal-Sagoth Ulysses Siren Sabbat Dark Tranquility Naglfar Emperor I could compile a huge list but I'd rather not

Abso-frickin-lutely! I've even still got my long hair after all these years. Who needs Avacor? Headbanging keeps the blood flowing up there. Here's a few of my favorites (no particular order): Ozzy (Randy Rhodes is god! Well, was anyway.) Helloween (Keeper era and earlier only. Almost everything since has sucked.) Metallica Guns N' Roses Black Sabbath (Ozzy era is best, but as Artillo said, "Man that dwarf can sing!" Iron Maiden Gamma Ray W.A.S.P Alice Cooper Me (been in lots of good bands) Testament Slayer (Haven't listened to them in years, but they still hold a place in my heart) Queensryche Well, that'll have to do for now. I know there are some greats I'm just not thinking of. I'll be back.

You call that metal??
04-21-2005 20:16
If you want the hard stuff come to Transylvania. We're usually playing metal of some variety from Nightwish to Lacuna Coil, from Korn to Nine Inch Nails, Coal Chamber to Moonspell but on Tuesday and Thursday we really get brutal with Headbanger's Ball with BCreative Wilde and The Crypt with yours truly.
I like my metal *hard*, we're talking: The Agony Scene Norma Jean All Out War Arch Enemy Kittie As I Lay Dying Atreyu The Acacia Strain Beauty To Ashes Bleeding Through Burnt By The Sun Chimaira Darkest Hour Demon Hunter Devil Driver Diecast Hatebreed Falling Cycle Few Left Standing Glass Casket Throwdown Living Sacrifice Soul Embraced Zao Bloodbath Obituary Gorguts Figure Four Flaw No Innocent Victim Crimson Thorn From Autumn To Ashes God Forbid Frost Like Ashes Killswitch Engage Brick Bath From A Second Story Window Lamb of God Life of Agony Luti-Kriss Meshuggah Skinlab Poison The Well Premonitions of War Napalm Death Remembering Never Sepultura Scars of Tomorrow Six Feet Deep Six Feet Under Skycamefalling Training For Utopia Soul Fly Disciple AD Bolt Thrower December Epidemic ...to name a few
-Kiamat Dusk Prefers the term "Headbanger" to "Metalhead"

OK one comment from me... See for me, the thing about "Death Metal" is, if I can't understand the guy singing because he is growling into the mic in some idiotic "I like to think I am posessed by a demon" voice, or screaming so loud you can't understand what he's saying (and I don't mean occasionally, I mean for the WHOLE song), or the bass notes are so low and repetetive that it washes everything else in the song out, then I don't really consider that to be GOOD music, but that's just my opinion. Heavy, mucky, repetetive single note playing is NOT what makes something HARD METAL, in my opinion.
As much as I am a huge fan of Metal/Classic Metal, I do like quite a few of the nu-metal and Death Metal bands out there, don't get me wrong, but it's getting harder and harder to separate the crap from the decent, innovative stuff.
Out of Kiamat's list, I would pick out these for stuff I like:
All Out War Kittie (RAWR) Atreyu Chimaira Devil Driver Hatebreed Obituary Lamb of God (damn good band) Meshuggah Napalm Death Sepultura Bolt Thrower
I would toss in some:
Korn (every diet needs some Korn!) Coal Chamber Mudvayne (they keep getting better IMHO) Skipknot Drowning Pool Lacuna Coil Shadows Fall Stratovarius Nightwish Iced Earth
