Vote analysis so far:

Well, of 22 votes (I'm disregarding the 11 funny votes for pun "landslide";) exactly 0 of them believed 3%, of even anything less than 5% was enough to declare a landslide.

Seriously, I would imagine there is some margin of error in the voting process itself. This could be any number of things. Confused people at the polls, weather, voting instruments.

I'm not talking about malicious vote fraud but just the average mistakes made in the process. In order to declare a landslide you would need to overcome that margin of error.

I took a completely unscientific poll of my brain and is was decided that the MOE for any election was 3.2%.

The whole "mandate" thing is just laughable... especially hearing Bush supporters claim he won by the largest margin in history. Do people not read? Is simple math beyond them? They may as well just point to themselves and say "Hi, I'm stupid!" instead. At least that would actually be true! Bush won by the smallest margin for an incumbent in history, and the smallest margin for any presidential election since Truman in 1948. Even if he had won by a landslide the whole "mandate" thing would still be arrogance incarnate.

Thanks, Chip. Always good stuff. It's easy to agree w/fact, rather than baseless statements and media blitz.
