We need to save the waterways and cut down on land mass.

I like boats. Does it count that I sail in boats that fly above the water?

Let's start a petition for a sea themed sim!

Variety's good, a sea themed sim or two would be good I think. =)
Maybe they could do some messing around with height and whatnot so that the 'floor' of that sim is about 50 meters lower than usual(and assumedly the 'ceiling' is too), so that there's a whole ton of space below water even though the sea level seems to line up with neighboring sims just fine.
That way, if it's public land, people still have a reason to buy it and keep it water(they'd be able to build pretty deep below water without the freaky bugs). It'd be very tough to make islands since you can only make the height of your lot so much different than everyone else's.

Sailors are cool. I just purchased a lot in Lusk just to preserve the small "Ryan Linden" tree forest it had along with a small pond and stream which traverses private and Linden land. I named the little preserve "Dawson's Creek" too Count me in. Briana Dawson

Well u know I'm in, and so is Corwin, Lili, Psyke (Psych), and everyone in Luscious I'm sure (when I can talk to them all). I can get my boats from Federal to Kissling No Problem - I just wish there were some connectors to the sims on the top of the map! Boating is my new favorite thing to do if I don't know what to do So I added 3 speeds to my latest Luscious Cruisers, but that 3rd gear (properly named Go Like Hell! gear) really needs more open waterways Please if u have water keep it opened up enough!!! - Sailor Taylor Dawson's Creek awwwww I want one!!

Boating has been a great time in SL lately. It is pretty amazing how much of the world can be seen via the waterways. It is ashamed that you cant get everywhere, but such is life.
I WILL NOT promote any strong arm tactics to open any waterways. However, I would like to ask current and future land owners on waterfront to be aware of the boaters in SL and try not to create water hazards and barriers to the free use of the water.
Thanks to all those joining up and wearing the Sailor club name. We will have to organize a regatta sometime soon.

Sounds like a good idea I've poked my bit of land in Clara a touch to try and widen/deepen the narrow gap between Clara and Freelon. Hopefully should get a few bigger boats through there now.... Now, if I can just get this boat I bought to go left-right instead of rotating into the water, I'll be all set

You know what would be NICE, if there was a timer where u could buy land, and if you released it, within say 10 mins, you didnt get charged or you got returned your $L. I have bought land in the waterways, lowered it, and released it again just so boats can get through better, which cost me say $32, but I can lower some spikes out in the water. It would be nice if you could do a 'good deed' and not really have to pay. I've done this with ugly holes in the ground etc before 1.2 also but I wouldnt do that now. Maybe this should be in the Features suggestion section.

I've been doing my bit to protect the waterways for a while now.. more than half of the land I own in taber is underwater, bought for purpose of keeping the cove my build sits on as an open accessway from Welsh to the Tudor Village in Taber.
Under 1.1 I thought it a responsible thing to do to keep land ownership/prim usage in harmony -- 1.2 proved this to be a wise desicion.
Siggy.

FYI. There is a very narrow channel along the northern border of Lusk that now allows (narrow) boat travel all the way to Luna via Darkwood. Its a challenge entering the channel, but once underway its pretty smooth sailing if you take it slow. Its now possible to sail from Federal to Luna! There are some low water hazards around the world, but I think most of them are linden owned. There are a few land restrictions that inhibit travel, I will try to ask land owners nicely to reconsider those restrictions. I really want Sailors to be considerate of the land owners, please dont intimidate anyone into doing something with land they dont want to do. I plan to ask a few politely to make some possible revisions, but I wont press an issue if the owners are not compliant. To all SL residents, please let me know if your being pressured by a SL Sailor about your land. I saw Taylor's boat jump in Varney, fun stuff. Open enrollment is still available. Just use FIND feature and search groups for Second Life Sailors and sign yourself up.

I am pleased to announce that the SLATE area is open to all boaters. From Slate to Teal, you are able to sail through the channels, and enjoy smooth sailing, although when you reach Taber, all bets are off I too am joining you Loki in this endeavor. If I can be of any assistance contacting parties to ask them to open their waterways, please let me know. Thanks!

Loki, in answer to your inquiry, the Nomad sailboats are once again available in various sizes (up to 28'). Two contemporary sailboats made after RL models (Precious and Nomad - names pretty close to their RL counterpart), plus a variety of small vessels with a more historic or cultural background. Precious and Nomad can be textured and named to the buyer's liking. L$300 ea, excl. texture upload costs.
Since boats are being deleted from Kissling, does anyone have a marina that can hold the 27-prim vessels for sale? Kind of like a Busy Ben on the water? Lucky Loki perhaps? Marine Mickey?
Handcarved wooden legs and fine iron hooks anyone?

Harald:
Please contact me in-game, as we are re-structuring the Slate Community Store. We will be moving the Store down to where my Cabin used to be, which of course is right next to the water, so we would be able to show off your sailboat at the dock there.
Thanks!

Actually I have just been very suprised that the Lindens didn't just keep the ground under waterways Linden Land. Problem solved before it even was a problem. I wish they would spend 1 day carving a few more waterways up top of map.
And sorry Loki, I deleted my jump, but if you know of another place where u can get up to speed on a straight away to have fun jumping let me know...

Gah! Someone bought a big chunk of water in front of my house + dock area and raised it such that nothing can float through that corner (clara/freelon/perry) at all Can't even get the boat out! They're only a newbie and within their rights to do so, I'm just thinking of how to point this out to them without sounding an ass... especially when they've just joined. Also trying to think of other ways to re-open a passage around that area... there are a lot of pointy-bits that others own but maybe we can all work something out
