In a rather insane way it make me chuckle - see I had the opposite happen to me...

Things I made for free were being sold -- that wheel keeps turning till we hit full circle.

Odysseus, I fully understand your point on this however, some of us had plans to use things we created for sale at one point n time. With the Permissions system fowling up some of the designs and creations and letting them get out there free to copy we no longer have the recourse to "Use" that item as it has been tainted by being made free through a fallable system.

Let me give you an example for instance.

On a personal note I had an Item that was partially in developement with a friend and he and I had planed to "Market" the item with personalised customizable textures. When the permissions fowl up happend that Item was released to the public free to copy not of our volition mind you. Now there are litterally hundreds of those Items in world free to copy.

Now had he and I continued forward with our plans the Item would have been sold for 1k each. so as a rough estimate with 500 of those in the inventorys of multiple players in world should I not have 1/2 million Lindens in my pocket for my creation? Through the missuse and abuse of the system I was robbed of my hard work and creativity.

So the point is you can't fault Soren for being angry its just his anger is misplaced in individuals when its not the individuals fault but the fault of a bug in the system and the TOS basicaly implies if it happens we are simply screwed. So with that said we need to focus on the issues with the system and help Phillip and LL find the bugs and close the loop.

Meanwhile what do we do with things that were stolen or lost to us through a fallable system. Simply put we make newones bigger better and stronger that will make the old ones no longer wanted.

I for one am glad for this post. I know I feel pride after spending hours and hours to get a box to speak to me. After reading all this the old "keep it in your pants" sounds (for once) like sound advice. If your serious about making linden, don't share it with your neighbor your friends or this weeks lover.

Misty's birthday party was the first real event I went to in world. It was memorable for many things, not least the fact that I was the only person from my circle of friends who got into the sim and I arrived to find I had a vagina box on my head. A bright red Green Fate vagina box, which wouldn't come off.

I haven't written about this before....the pain was too recent, but talks of genie bottles and horses and camels suddenly brought it all back to me, lol. In vivid technicolour.

It wasn't the normal newbie mistake of dragging the box onto my avatar either, but some weird thing which meant that I set off from home with nothing on my head and arrived with something immoveable. I was so torn. The TP was blocked, I was in and could go get the freebies - and the genie bottle was beautiful.

Bravely, I moved the box until it was floating about two feet above my head, and then I textured it more or less transparent. The party was full of mentors and lindens...well as full as Sims can get before they fall over with their feet in the air...and I was terrified that someone was going to mouse over me and choke on their party buffet when they saw vagina on an item floating above my head. I didn't know in those days that attached items don't show up separately.

I took copies of all the genie bottles and had them out at all my properties for MONTHS Soren. However, don't worry too much. The high prim count of the wildlife within the bottles meant that most people that I knew then couldn't afford to get them out of the bottle without most of their furniture and half their houses going west - or at least into the lost and found section of their inventories. I shouldn't think too many people will have kept them.

I highly disapprove of anyone selling free to copies or freely distributing items that the creator hopes to make an honest linden from...and I have risked banning and a severe telling off by placing my famous "don't sell other people's creations as your own" signs across market stalls which try this on.

However...this item was free to copy last February, it can't possibly have been the result of the much more recent bug and I highly doubt it was a hacker. I hardly think that Misty or her friends would have hacked your horse (sounds messy) in order to give away nefarious copies - especially at a high-profile event with lindens ago-go. It sounds to me as though you must have let one or two of your horses out of the stable without their perms adjusted.

Suggest you get one of those tip jars in Rivendell and turn it into a honour system...how much do you sell them for? Let people pay if they want them...or dispose of them humanely if not. I had hundreds of the darn things at one time, but that was because I didn't understand the way inventory breeds. I have one camel, no horses now...but I will check my newbie box in case one hitched a ride there.

Great post Shadow. The only point I will make is to why I assumed it was me. I received an offline IM about clearly stating that fact. I answered it and was answered with a form letter of some sort about a leave of absence. My only angst is the fact that I felt I had to address the allegation here because I ran into an apparent dead end with the IM method.
