So you've been on SL for a while and you're used to your name. But if you could go back and pick a new name to do it all with again, what would it be? Maybe you've thought up a more creative first name, or maybe there's a new name available? Maybe you missed out on a now discontinued name? Is there someone you do/don't want to be related to?

I would be Kyoko Yossarian. ^_^

If I could, I would prefer my first name capitalized, and I wouldn't mind the current last name available of 'Noir'.

It's sad, I honestly had no idea how the naming system of SL worked when I started here. By the time it mattered, it was already too late.

Ah well..

You might be able to get the capitalization changed by e-mailing one of the Lindens.

I liked my name when I chose it. I have been Pituca online since 1998, and Chang just seemed to go with it.

I wouldn't change it for anything unless I could hypenate it to Fairlight-Chang.

I love my name! I thought long and hard before I chose - about 15 minutes.

I had thought of this myself once, but that kinda change would have to be made quick i think. Well either 1) before you bought your LT account or 2) before everyone and their dog know you as your current name branding you forever...
I actually had a friend who had changed their name while in college and many people in his professional life know him as it. But knowing him since HS I just can't ever bring myself to refer to him as his new name, just doesn't feel right. Luckly he doesn't mind...hehe.

Sometimes I wish I'd just gone with my RL name, Molly. And maybe Murphy or O'Flynn for a last name. And then other days I wish I was... I dunno, Daemona Noir or something. I think I need more than one avatar name. :)

I was first in SL when I believe it was still in beta. I had the first name of 'Seladore' (with a final 'e'). When it became a pay site I left, because I understood that only Canadians and Americans were entitled to be here, and I am English. Up until then I could use spellings like 'color' and 'aluminum' and talk about my folks in Kentucky and nobody would know.

It wasn't until recently, when someone told me that it was ok for me to be here, that I rejoined. But unfortunately when I typed my name I forgot the final 'e'. When I tried to change it I found that the old name was still on the records, and that I couldn't change.

So here I am as boring Selador when I could have been glamorous Seladore. Just doesn't seem right <sniff>

Well I couldn't be anything but Cienna. At first I wanted my last name I use in DAoC so I could be Cienna Devine but Rand has really grown on me. I wouldn't change a thing.

I've been using Lordfly as a game handle since Quake 1, back in 1995.

I picked digeridoo because it's an instrument, and i'm a psuedo musician, so it kinda works out :)

I'm also proud to notice that I'm one of less than a dozen Digeridoos left in the world.

Viva la Digeridoo!

If I could change anything it would be my last name, though at the time I chose it there were none better. I would follow the path of Cher and Prince and simply be Eve.. no last name.. just Eve.

selador you can probably email the lindens too. they're all about customer service.

like pituca, i've been known as khamon or khamot in every online game or community i've been a part of since the late nineties.

i was stunned by having to choose a last name, from a list no less, when i trialed sl. i liked fate. apparently so did hundreds of other people.

kha meant rule(r) five-thousand years ago. more recently, it was the name used to denote the floating place holder in an arabic numeral. eventually that definition was replaced by zero.

amon was already a very old deity of air, breath and invisibility before he moved from hermopolis to thebes and conquered the entire ennead to be named amon ra.

so in it's most ancient form, khamon means ruler of air. in modern times i suppose it's either holding a place next to god or zero god. in either case, fate seemed an appropriate last name.

Well when I joined there were no Wolf or Wulf last names and I wanted to maintain my original Net name of ShadowWulf So I took Shadow Weaver ...Weaver being related to the ablility to mold intricate things into existance because I love to build and make things.

Odd I have noted along with names how people have changed since the begining. I mean their avatars. Its funny too people made changes and didnt know how to get what they were back. That was one of the first things Char Linden taught me way back in Beta in January was how to make a copy of my orginal self and perserve it. Oddly enough with all the changes and tests of this and that I have preserved the Orginal Shadow pretty well.

His Face is exactly the same but his body has modified a bit from being a bit shorter to being taller his chest not so robust to being larger and his waist being a little more realistic.

So along with names how many people still have their original Avatar that they were pleased with and people got to know them as?

I really love my name...
Baccara is the name of a favorite rose and although the surname of "ROSE" was available at the time, I thought it a bit much. Rhodes seemed to flow better, and I wouldn't change it for anything...:)

Heh, the name Squeedoo has no meaning...

No,just kidding.

I decided to keep my name from TSO, since it grew on me. Beside, it was either that or the rather long "Callimogua". Heh heh.

I really had no idea that last names were so fixed in SL...ah well. I wanted my surname to be "Galaxia", but Galatea works just as well. :D

In a way, I wish I'd kept my "old" online name -- Kerewin. I love the name Kerewin and I used it for years in other ways online - both in games and in chat, etc. I love it so much I may name my first born daughter Kerewin, LOL.

But now that I'm "Zana" in SL I've gotten used to it. I'm not sure I'd answer to Kerewin anymore, hehe. I do, however, looove my last name in SL. Feaver just seems to fit my Av for some reason to me. I like the combination of "z" and "n" and "v" when its spoken outloud. It doesn't mean much, really. Though some people have accused me of making a derivative of Xena (as in warrior princess) it's really not so. It's a coincidence, I tell you! ;).

I spent about an hour coming up with my name, so I have no regrets =)

I wanted something short, unique, distinct, gender-neutral, fun-sounding, and kind of geeky. =D

I deliberated for a while before settling on Eddie (an old school nickname) Escher (one of my favorite artists). I actually made a list of several names based on the available last-names on offer, which included 'Magic Marker' and 'Lowin Fats'. Cant remember any of ther others.

I'm totaly happy with my SL name, wouldnt change it for anything.

My online persona is Amaprotu. (It doesn't have a proper pronunciation in case you are wondering.)

I used it in EQ for my first character (a mage), then created a second Character named Mahkahl. It was durring my two years of EQ that I realized, even if you have a long name people only think of you in terms of the first sylable. I was always called Mahk, and I called others by their first sylables.

When I signed up for second life I knew Amaprotu *anylastname* would be too long. So I shortened Amaprotu to Ama and chose the last name with closest feel to the original Amaprotu (a presumptious acronym). Thus Ama Omega was born.

I would of course not choose another name, I already have the best one in the game. The second closest - Ama Noir is now mine also. :D In FFXI I took a similar path making my name simply Mahk.

I love my name... it sounds very intelligent... at least I think so. The name I use online a lot is DionysusSP, and then for gaming I have a completely different name (Xeno, so... I feel your pain, Zana). I really just love the way "Dionysus" flows (even though few people seem to be able to pronounce it). Oh, so you know, the reason I didn't go with Xeno, is because that name already has a last name.

Anyway, I think I read through the list once and chose Starseeker... it just really fit, and it's also pretty, and (while making my name UBER long) it just seems to fit very well. besides... even in my head, Xeno Mezphy is a warrior, Dionysus Starseeker is a creator/mage... I could never change it.

If I was given the option to change my name.. Id probobly shorten it down to simply "Chris Omega." "Christopher" seems to be a bit of a mouthful :)
