A part of me thinks they are just very flooded with abuse reports and don't really go into great depth to decide which reports to consider. Although, another part of me remembers back in beta. The abuse report system still was flawed even though that population is a fraction of what it is today.

I doubt the Lindens ban people w/o investigating. They seem far too busy to waste time banning people for frivolous reasons.

The Lindens go out of their way to preserve our privacy. They also wish to avoid retaliation against those who report abuse. Abuse reports are so terse for these reasons.

Perhaps the abuse reporting tool could include a check box for "There is no reason to preserve my privacy." That would still risk retaliation, but it might be a way to give the accused more information. Also, it would be a voluntary, player-initiated thing.

I do understand why they have abuse reports.. but instead of doing that, why dont they have it so they are limited in which sims they can as the second option. (first is warning). Then 3rd should be suspension, then banning. Unless it is bad, like crashing dozens of people at a time constantly.

Just a quick observation from a realitively new player, but as I read through these forums it seems to me the reason for these bans is reversed. Meaning the 3 or 4 petitions I have seen on the forums are from people (usually on their friend's accounts because they are also banned from the forums) who sent in abuse reports about someone else. They then proceeded to tell such people that the report was made. In turn, they get reported themselves for some retarded, off the wall, and generally false reason. Guess who gets banned? Yup, the person who made the initial report.

Now either there is WAY more to the story that we aren't seeing, or someone at LL is being lazy and just banning anyone whose name happens to appear in ANY abuse report. That gives me a message of one thing....don't report anyone for anything. Period. That way my name stays out of abuse reports and I don't have to use a friend's forum account to post a petition to allow me to play again.

*takes a deep breath*

Sorry, I guess this kind of stuff gets under my skin a little. LOL
