Found this entry on the Boing Boing blog, which is co-edited by Cory Doctorow, who was the featured guest of Hamlet's recent Book Club event: (click the link above, or if all else fails go to Boing Boing and search for "uncensorable"

hey Darwin why post a link if you're going to tell people not to look at it? there isn't a person on earth who needs to see this kind of thing. i'm boycotting your posts from now on. you've made it nice and clear you have nothing to say that's worth hearing. and seriously people these aren't funny or cute..these are horrible images that will scar you and hurt you and make you sad. they won't make you a better person or give you something to talk about that anyone will want to hear. no one will think you're cool because you've seen them. you will wish you hadn't seen it and you will never be able to forget. i've seen plenty of horrible things first hand and i don't need to visit websites to see more nor do i ever want to see hear or think about anyone who would find it entertaining much less make it available for other people. and that's all i have to say about that.

Hey I have an idea lets all get together, praise the lord and sing kumbayah or however you people spell it. If you are so weak that a stupid little picture on the internet traumatizes you then its your fault and you deserve whatever happens to you. You guys must have been living in a comfy suburban dome all your life. When I was but a toddler people decapitated chicken and slit pig's throats in front of me, ripping them in half and pulling out all the organs shortly thereafter. We didnt call it gross, we called it LUNCH!

Well good gracious Eggy I hope to god you dont call any of the pictures that were posted "lunch". Where on earth did you grow up? A ranch or a third world country?

I can't help but be intruiged by the phsycological response when one is presented with a link that is accompnied by text such as "a really sickening picture". I wonder what percentage of users simply can't help clicking on the link, and how many think "nah, not today". Myself, I couldn't help clicking... until I saw the weight-lifter picture (thanks Darwin - simply MUST get you back for that one man lol). Now I am most wary indeed

I was just moaning about how squeamish people are. "Look, a spider/mouse/worm/cockroach! AAAAHHH HELP WE ARE ALL GONNA DIE!" I dont care if its a human or an aligator, its just meat. How you present it makes no difference to me. As for where I grew up, I grew up and still live in downtown Lisbon. But I often spent the weekends on the country side, so I've seen my share of animal slaughtering. Best food I ever ate! Killing a pig is sort of like a party around there. People get together to do it cause a heavy animal like a pig needs several people to hold it down while all the blood drains out, and then you have to burn all the hair away and give the dead pig a good scrubbing with some largish bits of cork which is a lot of work. You americans will probably be grossed out but the blood is kept and boiled with some rice and stuff... yummy Then they hang the dead pig on a metal hook, cut it in half and take out all the organs. Some are thrown away, some are kept and eaten. You'd be amazed at how much a pig looks like a human on the inside. As for the rest of the pig, well, you've probably seen it on a supermarket near you, ribs, ham, bacon, of course its all a lot better when its fresh.

And HOW do you know this Eggy? You haven't been eating "long pig", have you? "I would enjoy your liver with some fava beans and a nice bottle of Chianti." (Or something like that.)

I hate to say it (hmm...I mean ADMIT it) , but I'm one of those people who, if I had to slaughter a pig to be able to eat, I would throw up and then go gathering berries instead. Yup, I have an amazing ability to totaly detach the processed chicken I'm eating from those cute little birdy things in farmyards. Ooh, a lovely steak! Not a cow in my mind at all. And the thought of eating offal just makes me wish I could photsynthsise instead! Yet I'll happily eat muscle tissue if it's presented with some kind of cook-in sauce and isnt too expensive in the shops. Yet it's all the same 'bodily matter' at the end of the day. Is this gastranomic hypocrisy?
