I've never been a big fan of PETA, but I'm a long-time fan of Dennis Rodman (anyone who can get between the sheets with Madonna is OK in my book). I have to say that I was a bit surprised when I saw him on one of those celebrity poker shows a while back, and his "charity" was PETA.

I guess he's pretty serious about this commitment to these crack pots though. Check out a new PETA ad campaign featuring Dennis Rodman here.

penn and teller's bullsh*t had an entire episode devoted to these people... its amazing how many good meaning people can be extorted/esploited by a few power hungry loonies.

the fact many of their top people wear leather belts, drive cars with leather seats etc of course not withstanding

The VP of PETA is a diabetic who uses insulin made from animals.

So much for total animal liberation.

I support PETA. I only east the leftover animal meat after they it to make her insulin.

For every animal you don't eat, I'll eat three.

If God didn't mean for me to eat animals, why did he wrap them up in tasty meat?

Personally I think I've eaten enough cows to earn my leather jacket... and If I could buy harp seal meat I'd be working towards a fuzzy toilet seat cover.

Clearly there are not enough images returned. I am personally disgusted that organizations such as PETA, in their whack-job attempts to promote cruelty-free lifestyles, have limited search-engine technology in this manner.

Not only are they self-serving hypocrites, but they have in essence ruined the Internet for the rest of us normal people.

about the sparrow thing.......i've been yelled at so many times for trying to help birds (don't do that! now their mother won't take them back / will kill them / will kill you!! idiot!) there's no way i'd mess with that sparrow. anyways i got served sparrows in thailand and i'm still traumatized so the little bastard can just lay there.

Cool: Someone who has a strong belief and exercises it.
Not Cool: Someone who is a fanatic of said belief, exaggerates and is hostile to all people who don't share that belief.

Example of each =

Cool: Moby, who advocates veganism, animal rights, etc.
Not Cool: PETA, who wastes their time with stuff like ... "People shouldn't fish because the hooks hurt the fish". I'm NOT even making this up.

So PETA would condone my practice of fishing with dynamite!! EXCELLENT!

side note: anyone who says that this takes the 'sport' out of it has never held a stick of dynamite with a 4 inch burning fuse.

Add some beer to the mix and a couple of obnoxious friends, and I assure you it's a thrill a minute!

Absolutely, dude...
- it adds risk to the hunter, which most anti-hunting groups complain about the lack of (Oh, those poor defenseless creatures!)
- since you have to drop it in the water, the fish are more likely to be scared = more difficult
- Darwin gets to get to work, which always excites me when it doesn't jeopardize innocent lives!

Those folks who weep for the 'poor defenseless creatures' have never been chased five miles through the woods by a vicious deer before. And, NO! I wasn't hunting. I was just trying to enjoy nature a little bit. Stupid deer woke up when I started screwing it.

Yeah, that is pretty ridiculous to think that sticking a hook through a fish's jaw in any way causes them pain. When reeling them in, yanking their entire body weight by the hook that is pierced through their jaw is actually proven to release pleasure inducing endorphins. This is bringing in a slew of new dog walking leashes equiped with large hooks instead of collars. Just sayin'

Oh, I never said it didn't cause them pain...

... actually, I could argue that the adrenaline rush they'd get from a life and death struggle would numb the pain, and it is a kinder death than a typical fish's death - eaten alive, asphyxiation, or death due to bodily injury.

But that's sorta moot. If we're eating an animal, and we kill it in a simple way, it's no worse than what a carnivore in nature does. And since PETA thinks carnivores in nature deserve this right, then by that argument PETA ought to give us this right. The counter-argument, of course, is that humans have awareness and judgement that animals do not. In that case, we would be making a distinction between humans and the rest of the animal kingdom, which would justify us eating lower life forms.

But it's still a philosophical debate. It's not one I'm all too interested in discussing.

What I wanted to point out is that PETA can have some views that are pretty ridiculous.

I don't see nothing wrong with eating people. Would solve the prison problem, and save the government a lot of money. Hell they might even make a profit from the meat.
