It's up to $70k now that I've gotten around to reading this thread. Something tells me she's not going to be able to ever collect on this auction. Time to take it to Christie's. :)

Don't you people know that eating a 10 year old sandwich with the image of the Virgin Mary on it will absolve you of all sin? Its much safer than being a jihadist, and quicker than spending many hours in church.:D

Something that does not have meaning to others may have meaning to you, depending on your personal interpretation and perception of what is being presented here. It is neither practical nor logical but may help to satisfy a human need to make sense of what often seems to be a big, confused world.

Just don't eat this particular Virgin. :)

That sums it up nicely.

That's one flaw/gift of the human mind: the ability to detect "patterns" that are, in fact, coincidental. I used to scare myself silly when I was little. I'd find grotesque "faces" in trees, wood grain etc.. I actually quit ballet lessons at the tender age of four because I was (secretly) frigtened of a tiny gnarled "face" made of cracks and crumbling plaster in one ceiling corner! One night when I was maybe six I "found" an angry tiki face in a painting on my wall. I remember gettiing a sore neck because I always slept facing the other way so I wouldn't see him. My parents still have the painting, and each time I see it my eyes go straight to that damned tiki!

I don't notice it anymore, but when I was a little kid I would tend to zone out in thought, and when I'd become conscious of my surroundings again I would *always* be looking at a face... in the grain of wood, in the carpet, in clouds, in the leaves of trees. Often it would be accompanied by a sound in my head like a dissonant chorus just out of my range of hearing... enough to know it was there but not enough that it had form or substance. It happened less and less often as I neared puberty and then stopped for the most part

Interesting, Chip. I wonder- and this is just a guess- if your mind responded to zoning out by making sense out of random patterns (clouds and so on) in a grasp to make sense of things? Just a theory. I'm no expert on how the mind works.
To this day I still see "faces" and creatures in trees, clouds, patterns, sometimes even buildings. Just this morning I was eyeing a small stain on the ceiling that to me looks like a lizard, and was thinking it was ironic that- while I intectually knew it was just a splotch- I thought of it as 'the lizard'.

Either

1) Complete Idiot
2) Complete Jokester

If that toilet seat thing was in reference to military spending, there's a reason for that kind of stuff! Their stuff has to be custom designed and it's not always mass produced on the level that consumer stuff is, that combined with the extreme need for quality over price jacks it waaay up... The stupidly priced "hammers" (I forget the exact amount) were due to the need for specially designed hammers that could be used on a tank's reactive armor so that it would not blow up and kill the user! :0 And so on...so yea that's one freakin high quality toilet seat!!!!!

If you can bear the annoying ads...

Not saying the military/government isn't wasteful (hahaha), but I don't think it's anywhere near this sensational level...

BTW

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

Have any one of you heard of the "Inc Blot" test?

For those of you who have not (which I doubt), a "Inc Blot" is when you pour some "Inc" on a piece of white blank paper, fold it in half an press the paper together flat. When opened, the "Inc" has formed a pattern of sorts. Its up to you to determin what it is by saying what it looks like. There are no right or wrong answers, but it does determin "subconscious" thoughts an imagery...........

Seeing patterns in ANYTHING is the same thing as a "Inc Blot" test only done differantly. Olympia if by chance you do see "faces" all the time, everywhere you go, well that just means your subconscious is trying to tell you something important........ Try a little "Transendental Medatation" or "Dream Imagery"..... You may be surprised at what you discover..........

Chip - it kind of gave me chills when I read this because I still do this and so frequently that I don't even take note of it anymore. It's happens when I'm doing really mundane stuff like vacuming and dishes. I see faces and other things in the raised pattern on the carpet or in the soap suds in the sink. One time on vacation in Jamaica I got ahold of some mushroom tea and I was watching patterns in a rain storm - really wicked.

Someone once told me that this was a form of obsessive compulsive disorder, but it's not so extreme that it's affects me much and it's kind of fun except for when I'm late for stuff because I lose track of time and really can't explain to anyone why I was side tracked by soap suds, or rain, or leaves or clouds.

Wow - I just read this and realized that I sound nuttier than the person who bid 22K on a 10 year old sandwhich. :D
