Ok I apologize to all of those who know of this...but from the few I have spoken to didnt seem to know this...so here it goes...what I found to be remarkable...LOL

Go into your inventory...
Click File
New window

walahhhhh a dup copy of your inventory.....no more scrolling items up and down to sort them...just pass them between the two...I know its probably something well known..but if it helps one of you...I am glad to help!.....Happy Sorting!!

There's so many things to learn in SL that sometimes we overlook some seemingly simple things. Thanx for the feedback. Keep up the good work. :)

When I used to give SL Basics class, I had an inventory organizing notecard I would hand out to those who wanted it. I haven't given a Basics class in a long while.

Thanks for posting this Haley, it just points out to all the Mentors and Instructors out there (me included) that we need to get on the stick and teach more often.

Also (don't know if it is true, I need to test again). You know how when you have both inventory windows open and are transferring objects? Both windows bouce to the folder you are transferring to, and if you are transferring multiple you have to scroll again to find the object you want to drag over. WELL last night just before logging I found that if you transfer from the newly opened window (to the left) to the older window (to the right) it doesn't do that.

I hope this is true, and it wasn't that I was just too darn tired and maybe was hallucinating?

does 1.5.7 still updadte the folder destination in BOTH windows when dragging between 2 windows?

I havnt had time to try it, but it's still a serious annoyance when you have a lot of folders.

Dragging multiple items ala Windows explorer would be very nice too.

control copy dragging

and a simple inventory search, there is one for the world finder, why not inventory?

allow us to sort by creator / date / owner(oh wait no that's silly) / permissions

When these are implimented that is the day I sort my inventory and reduce asset server load by at least 20% =P

Yes, yes, yes!

And then I can get rid of all my multiple copies of items with "Flip" in them created by Ferran Brodsky! :-)

Wished I'd known this months ago ;( Would not of laid out all my objects out on my land during break-aways from building ......to sort out my inventory.... thus... would of possibly saved two friendships and prevented a feud and alot of heartache.........

Lesson learned... thank you for the tip.

Thank you Haley -- I do this myself.

Unfortunately, in the current version of SL, dragging individual objects into a folder seems to always expand the target folder. This is a real pain if the folder has many items in it. This behavior happens even with duplicate Inv windows. Plus, if the lists are long, the Inv windows will auto-scroll. VERY annoying. I don't recall this happening when I first got onto SL, and furthermore, it doesn't happen when dragging a folder into another folder.

Anyone else experiencing this? :)

I know and hate this too... Being a packrat this only makes things frustrating. Did anyone suggest a search option for the inventory?
