BS Geology with earth science teaching certificate. Teaching it pays about half what I make doing something totally unrelated, that's why I am not utilizing it and I think it's sad that teachers get paid so poorly. The kids and the teachers suffer and the administrations seem to grow in size and wealth whilst extracting ever more from tuition payments and taxes.

I had Basic and Digital electronics training in the US Army which correlates to a tech school electronics tech certificate. I also attended radar theory school in the Army in preparation for my Army MOS (occupation). Weeeee! HIGH VOLTAGE! And lots of NOISE! What I am doing now is a lot closer to my military training than that of college. I also have my A+ and MCSE.

Edit to add: OMG! Paolo! that Stepford wives quote! My brother and I repeated that about ten thousand times as kids! Had fogotten about...thanks for reminding me... I think... ;)

More years worth than I should have bothered with, probably...

Did I really need to go past Calc III for a ...hmm, well maybe. No, no, I was right--that was too far...I'll never use that crap! And that sociology class was POINTLESS! I don't even remember the crap anymore!

ARgh why can't they shorten the time required a few years or specialize more with more relevant courses??? Bleh, like I really care now.

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

I pursued a carreer and education in arts and graphic design.

I had to drop out of college half way through, but still made it.

You dont HAVE to have a qualification to your name to be good at the job!

I have a B.A. in English with a minor in journalism. I always thought I'd work as a journalist, but found I couldn't hack dealing with all the depressing stuff the media reports on on a daily basis. So I started working at a university and was last employed as a student advisor before leaving my job to stay home to raise my kids (for a while).

As an English major, one of my most satisfying moments was when my civil engineer husband called me to discuss the difference between "will" and "shall" when writing up a contract; he admitted then that one of the things he does most on a daily basis in his job as a municipal traffic engineer is communicate in writing. He acknowledged how important it is to learn this skill. So for anybody in college who is majoring in a technical field, remember that there is a lot of usefulness to your liberal arts classes, too.

Someday soon I intend to finish my master's degree and get a job teaching freshman English comp to sullen undergrads. :D
