From: Cristiano Midnight Yeah I bought mine around the same time as Nolan and I didn't get any of that either. I am doing a poor job of communicating. I got the poster and t-shirt long before I signed up for a lifetime account. I received it when everyone else was getting theirs, in early summer 2003. If memory serves, the t-shirt and poster were simply for being a beta tester, and not connected to lifetime accounts, for sure, in my case. I am such an uber-geek that I have never worn the t-shirt, and the poster is still in its shipping tube.

I got a T-shirt and a poster (both with my name on them!) at the end of beta without having bought a lifetime account. I later bought a lifetime for $225 (I guess.) They were open to everyone who was in world at the time, regardless of whether you'd been in beta or not.
My only regret is that I didn't buy two.

Mine are hidden away in a closet until I get around to framing the poster. I got the lifetime membership very late, when there were only a few still available. I never had the Charter Member title.

From: Pituca Chang To have the Charter status you had to have bought the US$159 Lifetime membership before a certain cutoff date. I believe it only applies to those who were here in Beta. The only advantage we have over others that bought the Lifetime account is that neat "Charter Member" designation. Well, that and a sort of integration into the development of SL more than mere 'residents'. There are implications to the title: (specificially the term charter ) which indicates that they were formative in the creation of SL, and member, that they are indeed a part of SecondLife, and not an individual who simply lives within it with no official connection. Conversely, a "resident" simply lives there, and has no official connection. Charter Members are part of the organization, part of SL; Residents are, officially, not. I've argued in the past that charter members are often considered by LL the only 'resident contributors' of any official note: There is no official recognition of contribution to SL as a resident unless you are a charter member. But then again, I take the TOS and CS word for word and literally; and tend to derive implied intent from syntax that LL puts forth. As such, I'll always cede, hierarchically, to a Charter Member, and will always regard Charter Members with more respect than Residents. They are part of its genesis; we are simply occupants of the space they helped form, together with Linden Lab. (I am not a Charter Member.)

I'm a charter member and I definitely was not in beta. I also get a fair amount in stipend, equal to a premium account I suppose, but I paid a significant one time fee to become a charter member. Tho I always called it lifetime member.
