I dont know why I loved eternal sunshine and the spotless mind so much. Its still one of my favourites. Sure, it can be draggy. Its the concept I think. Will you want to forget all of your problems, throubles? Will you be willing to erase all of the memories? Carry on with life?

Hey rinaz, here are two I haven't seen mentioned yet here, but I hope you will enjoy them if you have not seen them already:

Adaptation
Being John Malkovich

... they're also from the laterally-thinking mind of Charlie Kaufman concerning life. I have actually not seen Eternal Sunshine yet, but looking forward to it.

at the rate this thread is going, you might should just walk into Blockbuster, put your card on the counter, and say "I'll take them ALL." ;)

I wonder how many hours would be neccesary to watch every movie suggested in this thread?

/me is stupidly curious.

BIG UP for Shawshank, and ... I haven't seen Big Trouble but it sounds whimsical from what I've read.

Um, except "Naked Lunch". That movies HAS to top the list in the Not-What-I-Expected category. (I think it was even used to make that very joke in a South Park episode.) I doesn't get freaked out by movies, EVER... Except for "Naked Lunch".

I've always liked "Demolition Man" for some strange reason. It takes the Fish-Out-Of-Water effect like that used in "Blast From the Past" but does it less of an in-your-face way, letting the plot cary more of your attention. It's a fun sci-fi movie.

I always liked "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and am really looking forward to Tim Burton's take on the story coming out next year! Johhy Depp will be playing Wonka.

Before Sunset. I'm not the romantic type, but I absolutely loved it, and the critics seem to agree with me.

Before Sunset is a brillant film. Richard Linklater is a superb film maker. Also check out Slacker and Waking Life.

Just went through the list of movies I have watched and recommended by you :)

The shining (creepy, creepy movie, the scene with the decaying naked woman chasing after the lead character, was extremely disturbing but loved this movie, a great horror show)

Shrek and Shrek 2! Love it! Funniest animated movie I've watched in the longest time! Toy story two comes close also :) I liked the parodies of the popular storybook character revisited :D Finding nemo - haha, the turtle was so cool :)

Dawn of the dead - I remember winning free tickets for this, I didnt find it scary, but I had to shudder a few times, found it comedic that the majority of the theater were so affected.

Pirates of the carribean :) Funny! Non sensical storyline, but in a good way :)

50 dates? The one with drew barrymore and adam sandler? I didnt enjoy that much, I guess, I think its farce. Just my humble opinion. Sorry. I didnt enjoy that as much as I didnt enjoy view from the top (never though gwyneth could act in such a bad bad bad movie)

Magnolia! Yes! Tom Cruise as a bigot was so cool to watch. Loved the raining frogs too. Wonderful movie :)

Love actually, really liked it :) The part with the guy singing "xmas is all around" Ahh ... he destroyed the wet wet wet song ... :p

Amelie is such a sweet story, there's something about the french production thats so different. They seem to focus on the different theme. (camera angles, storyline) Like, love me if you dare, and he loves me, loves me not

Tito, have you watched the iranian show, children of heaven. It was a very simple storyline, but its so touching. Its a story of a poor family that cant afford shoes so the brother and sister had to share them to go to school. The little sister studied in the afternoon while the brother studied in the morning. So they had to run real fast. Turns out that the brother became very good at running and is chosen to run in a competition.

Well, I wont spoil the rest for you, but the ending is so charmingly ...well, charming :p

What dreams may come, breathtaking scenery, yes, like a painting ... the part where robin williams tried to find his wife and when he found her in this old house, its an unforgettable scene ...

6th sense was good!! The ending was great! I liked unbreakable too, signs I couldnt really relate too ... I think I fell asleep watching that :p I'm sorry ..lol! I fell asleep watching seven ..so I guess there's something wrong with me somewhere :p

I've watched the japanese version of the ring. I tell you, I couldnt sleep for couple of days being terrified. Having a screen in my room didnt help either. But the us version didnt freak me out so much, its too CGI'ed in my humble opinion, the raw feeling from the japanese one, its gone from the remake.

If you could catch it, Ju'on is a good horror show too, the scene of the father and the daughter at the altar, meeting after a very long time ... was very bittersweet. Of course, its remade into "the grudge" havent seen that one, but I dont intend to though ...

American history X ... I had to look away ... when he said ... "put your jaw on the sidewalk" sure its a movie but ... I'm sure its been done before and ... the theme is real ..

Torley, I love adaptation!!! Story that evolves around an orchid, how could an orchid story be so facinating ... :) I felt for the other twin, nicholas cage ... sigh ...

Elizabeth was great to watch "with my hair shorn, I am a virgin again" Facinating movie, absolutely facinating. Shakespeare in love was wonderful too :)

Chicago was amazing :) I didnt know zeta jones could dance like that :p The music was awesome, razzle dazzle ... mr cellophane ...

Green mile is about the friendly giant who could suck away all the pain is he not? I enjoyed that movie, argh ..why'd he have to suffer :(

I cant imagine what it'll be like with the new tim burton willie wonka. Sometimes original is best. Have you seen the new oompa loompas tiger, they look so odd ...

How could anyone forget lost in translation :p Again, slow, draggy, but so immersive, and believable because, its what most people would experience in a different country...

Shaolin Soccer is funny! If you havent watched it .. please do ... I promise that you wont regret it :D
