No point to this post, other than I thought I would share...
Here in New England, we had our first frosts of the year last night and the night before. They even had a few flurries of snow not too far from where I live.
I generally enjoy the change of seasons around here, and don't mind winter horribly (although if you ask me the same question in February, I will tell you that winter sucks, and if I never see another snowflake, it will be too soon).
The one thing I do like about winter though, is that I get to show off to my friends and family what a wonderful pot of chili I make. I don't cook it at all in the warmer months, because it just doesn't seem to go down as well unless there is a chill in the air. Maybe that's where the dish gets its name.
So today, I whipped up the first batch of the season, and its simmering in the crock-pot, and my son is so damn anxious for dinner, I keep having to slap his hand to keep him from sampling the pot.
And me too... I can't want for dinner tonight too...
Yum, yum

Yeah, I'm in Boston and no chili for me? Even if I bring my own sourdough bread bowl? And can I throw in some habaneros? Yum.

The pot's not big enough to host a crowd, Madiera and Lit, although I must say that the thought of a fresh loaf of sourdough and some habeneros to go with dinner sounds delicious.
But your comments got me to thinking, in light of the "meet and greet" in AL that Ursula and Lecktor are putting together, that perhaps a similar thing in MA might be fun.
Here in Boston we have me and lilone, Lit's just across the river in Cambridge, and I'm not sure where you are, Madiera. I'm sure if I posted a forum thread, we'd find others.
Are either of you interested in doing something around here?

Chili... YUMMMM... There is nothing better than a bowl of hot "Texas" chili on a cold winter day. I have a killer recipe for real Texas chili that my family has used for years if you want to try it out on your next batch

From: Pendari Lorentz I make a killer chili if I do say so myself. hehe.. My chili has won medals... Truly. I entered my concoction in a contest once where, in addition to taste, we had to name our chili and give it a marketing line. I called mine "Wind Rippin' Chili", and the tagline was "Best eaten with the windows open". - Ace

Hahaha crazy name, ace I make a really killer pot of chili myself. And lasagna. And spaghetti. And, uh, just about anything I set my mind to. My momma always told me that these days girls can't cook so I would need to be prepared. She was wrong though! My girlfriend is a dream of a cook! Absolutely fantabulous Plus, she's half austrian so I get to eat all sorts of exotic austrian dishes

I've thought about a New England meet and greet, I'd be in, though the next few months are ugly for travel and other commitments.
Oh, and I want a pepper grown by inmates of a Guatemalan insane asylum. Just had to be said.
