I'm asking a very unbiased question here and hope for an intelligent factual answer.
What was Ms. O'Conner's beef with the Pope?.. or Christinaity for that matter.
I never understood what happened on SNL to make her do that.
Ok now to restate... what I'm trying to avoid are people who agree or disagree with Ms. O'Conner coming at me with some attack. I REALLY DON'T KNOW AND AM ASKING.

I never understood what happened on SNL to make her do that. I think it was a statement about how the Catholic Church wasn't doing more about child molesting priests. I also recall Frank Sinatra making a veiled threat to her, something about how she had better stay out of New Jersey.

It doesnt really bother me one way or the other, but the timing is terrible. I think people are still grieving, I mean the man is not even buried yet. If you posted this a week from now you would have achieved the post mortem humor you tried to explain earlier, but you would not have gotten the reaction you were seeking. This is an insensitive post whether you want to believe it or not.

The thing that makes me respect the Pope is that he was anti-war, especially anti 'war for no damn good reason', I also think he was a foolish old-fashioned greedy deluded pawn of a corrupt organisation that should be made to be accountable for it's horrible crimes, like allowing child-molesting priests to be shuffled around rather than changing the anti-common sence laws that created the environment that allowed a secret culture of sexually repressed priests to thrive. That's my opinion.

Sinead, while having perhaps too large of a mouth to fit into the corporate music scene, is a wonderfully talented artist. I have three of her CDs and they are all fantastic. I also saw her perform at Lilith Fair and she was by far the best of the bunch.
As far as the Pope goes, he was the "Spititual" (figurehead) Leader of a very corrupt religion. He probably did some very nice things in his life, and I'm sure he did many awful ones. Many lives were horribly altered and scarred during his watch. And if you tell me he had no idea that catholic Priest child-molesters were being shuffled from church to church, and district to district, and were being kept secret and covered up, I will just have to laugh in your face.
