Is Pac man a game?

Some people feel that Pac Man is a game, but I know for sure that Pac man is a dynamic avatar driven world with a complex economy. Residents of the different Pac man "boards" are collectors of "pellets" and "fruit" which have an intrinsic trading value, should Namco company ever decide to allow transaction of said products between Pac man and Ms. Pac man avatars. Additionally, "ghosts" are simply griefers and should be ejected from the Pac man world, and to be politically correct, is herein known as "Pacperson".

Pacperson contains immersive, richly textured worlds to explore, secrets to uncover, and "power pellets" to rapidly alter the properties of your avatar. I am disheartened at the folks wishing to classify Pacperson as simply "a game". I will be discussing this topic at length at the first annual Pacperson Community Convention, which will be located in the tranquil, culturally-diverse-loving city of Tehran.

I don't feel like Pac Man should be a game, I want it not to be a game, so obviously, for those reasons, Pac Man is not a game.

Pac-Man is not a game. It's a waste of time.

Defender... now, that's a game!

Defender was pretty cool, however I spent hours and hours on Galaga, Robotron, and Star Castle!

Robotron had some seriously creepy stuff going on...

Oooh...

You know, Eugene Jarvis is the fellow behind both Defender and Robotron :)

Oh, gawd... I'm such a geek for knowing that.

Well, if NAMCO has decided that Pac-Man is a game, I'm shocked and depressed. I'm not sure I'm going to keep using Pac-Man if it is really just a game. I don't think anyone else will, either, to be honest. And you're a big meanie head if you try to tell someone else that Pac-Man is a game. Maybe they don't want to hear that!

Hey, listen, because you're clearly using faulty logisticals and bad interpolatives I will have to correct you:

Just because a company states the purpose of something and guides the software to that purpose doesn't mean that people have to listen to that. Hell, you know how much gameplay time I've gotten out of Quicken Pro and Turbo Tax?

That's not good enough! If NAMCO wants to alienate me, I'm just going to have to reconsider my even using it anymore.

NAMCO did say that ONE use of Pacperson was a game ... just not every use. Isn't that good enough for you???

I stopped logging into PacPerson years ago, cos i could never get the chat to work. Not that it really mattered... there was never anyone else on at the time.

PongLife though... now THAT was something! FOUR sided avatars... ALWAYS someone else logged in when you were... AND it had a rich audio experience!

Sigh... i miss the old days.

Pac man.. a way of life

While some could call eating the dots and advancing to new boards a "game" most don't see it that way.

You can spend time in a corner, hidden, while the ghosts move around you.. you can just lay back and contemplate them.

Often I draw designs by what I eat away... and often wait for the ghosts to be in just the right formation creating a temporary moment of art.

I hear Cristiano is planning on making Paczilla for such art to be posted online!
