What would you guys do if...

That's pretty horrible, I've never seen a lot of what it goes for scamming in SL, that wasnt taken care of immediately, but this is such an ambiguious issue, after all unless you have chat logs she could just say that you said that you'd do the buildings for free, and that something happened, you got booted and made up a story about asking for money.

Unfortunately it seems to me like the money is gone. If she's not going to pay then she's not going to pay, and since there's no proof (apparently) of any financial agreements, she doesnt even necessarily have too. HOWEVER that doesnt mean that she can keep your objects that you spent your time on, so you should be able to pull a Linden in to send them back to you.....

I don't want to build for anyone like that - even though I do that rarely now - because I find that to be rather underhanded and evil, what she did to you.

Since they're your objects (both created and owned), you should have the option of deleting them at any time. Since you can't get to the island, contact a Liasion in game and ask them for aid. I see no reason why they wouldn't help you.

But you are loaded in real life, aren't you? Get a lawyer! Have a nice letter written up. I bet the lindens will help you out. It doesn't have to be a big deal... I'm not talkin' about goin' to court. Bet a letter from a lawyer tends to make people think you aren't fuckin' around. Just a thought. And make em pay your legal fees too (in $L!)

Might I also suggest a contingency plan of sorts. You could delete all that stuff w/ scripts and a little remote control. If you can't do it yourself, I'm sure you've got the hook-ups. I know it's late for that this time, but next time, be prepared.

I'm not sure what you built, but if contacting the Lindens as Mole said does not get your build back for you then I would take the entire theme, duplicate it and sell it or give it away yourself in world. Take some of the thunder out of his/her opening day. Then you could have your revenge and only he/she would lose an eye.

Another thing Kris, You developed the orginal and you know as well as I do with the way we are nothing is right till we say its right and then its still not right as we change it soooo...LOL with that being said do like Rose said but make it 10x better.. You have a sim of your own do it and do it quickly and quietly and open before she does.

This alone would take the sales out..

Well, since I was wrong, make some fake lawyer letterhead and send em a letter yourself. I know it scares me when people write me smart lookin' letters.

Well, the sim may be invisible now, but she is eventually planning to open it to the public and/or try to turn it into a money-making enterprise, right? If so, she has a big worry ahead of her... as soon as she opens it up, she has to worry that one or more of Kris's agents (and I have no doubt there will be plenty of folks willing to take the job ) is going to nonchalantly stroll around and remove all of Kris's builds right when the sim owner was counting on them. That would be incredibly embarrassing on opening day. And the best part, unless she actually sees it happening, she'll have no idea who deleted/removed the items.

I could envision a concerted effort by a small cadre of Kris's secret agents working together, each targetting a separate part, then at a predetermined signal all removing the pieces in a coordinated vanishing that would astound and befuddle the opening day crowd. Hehehe... this actually sounds like a fun thing to do, with the added benefit of delicious justice being dealt.

Of course, there's a high probability that anyone posting in this thread will already be banned from the island, but hey, that's what alts are for, right?

This sucks, Kris. You should be paid for your work. She should at least pay a couple of months of your tier. It's hard to say no to someone you consider a friends. But sadly, friends and money rarely ever mesh well.

I hope this issue gets resolved quickly, and hopefully you two can salvage your friendship. But if she only becomes an insuffrable berk, I'd like nothing more than to help you get even by either building betterer shiznit or storming the sim and going apocalypse on her ass.

Thanks guys. It's not even really about the builds so much. I seriously doubt they'll use them because they simply weren't in a state to be used. I had only done a few choice pieces and not nearly to any finished detail - a lot of the time was spent measuring out how to implement a particularly challenging centerpiece build, and though whats there means something to me in terms of what it is and how it would progress, I doubt anyone could pick it up and finish it! lol

I made a nice center sculpture that would be the crowning piece to the main build too, but I have a copy of that tucked up in my inventory

Other than that it was basically smaller, one off builds that I hadn't added any real detail to yet. So it's not like there is any one thing that is complete enough to be of any real value.

What pisses me off, really, is losing a weekend on the promise of a decent sum for a big job, putting off other stuff to do so, and then not only losing that, but being told you would 'of course' be compensated for the time you'd put it anyway... and then being totally blanked when it comes to the crunch.

I think I'd post on the forums...
