Good Lord. This Sunday I will have spent a whole year of my life in SL Aside from feeling like humanity is one year further from Aimee's cure for Cancer (or some such productive use of my time)...I feel like my time in SL has been MUCH MUCH longer than a year. The close personal bonds I have made with some of you beautiful folks do not feel like they could have been possible is such a short time. How long have I known you? Kenzington Fairlight (4 months?) feels more like a few years. Mistress and Torrid Midnight (7 months?) like my best high school friends. Toxius Stephanopolis (10 months?) like a younger brother to me Chase Rutherford (12 months?) like a favorite grade school teacher. Munchflower Zaius (14 months?) like someone I have known in a past life. So I would like to propose : AIMEE'S LAW of SL Time Distortion Which states that each month spent in SL feels equal to 2 years in RL. Sorta like dog years! Maybe the ratio could be refined a bit but I still want to call it Aimee's law cause I love the sound of my own name. Anybody else feel this way? What's your SL time ratio?

Magnums LAW on Physics of Orbits and times in Second Life.
1. Outer Space begins at the tops of the cloud layer. or about 300 Meters. This is considered low planatary orbit.
2. The further you move out away from the planet, the closer items become. Say, on the ground you and a friend leave for orbit from two different sims. By the time you reach 1000 meters you and your friend are about 1/16th a sim closer.
3. Interplanatary space begins at 950 meters. This is the zone where you cannot build in. Possiably due to the implosion of space beyond 1000 meters.
4. Time Each day-night cycle is 3.2 hours on Earth. The Planet that Second Life is on spins faster than earth thus the faster passing of the sun and moon. This faster spin may also be why, when crossing sim boundaries, friends tend to fall from space craft, or air craft. Its also why cars suddenly fall below ground layer when traveling between sims.
5. The moon you see in the sky is actually the same moon that orbits earth. Thus, second life is a twin planet to earth.
This is called Magnum's law of space and time.

From: Aimee Weber Your theory is so good it deserves its very own on-topic thread. I have one question. I have built gigantic space ships that are less than 30 prims. I have them lined up perfectly with zero rotation and they fly fine in the sim I am in, when I cross into Midnight City's Sim (Or any other for that matter), my spacecraft breaks up thus raining parts down on the citizens . I have never figured out why this happens. I do not click on any edit controls, just when I cross the line, a ship of about 30 meters long and about that wide just breaks up

From: someone That would explain the whacko sun cycles Come see the big working sundial clock in Gallinas ( SLP&RS LINK ... its on the platforms 250m up) which tracks the SL day. Its a 4 hour day, 3 hours of daytime, 1 hour of night. If the sim hasn't crashed lately you will see markers for Midnight, Sunrise, Noon, and Sunset, as well as 80 ticks which mark every 3 minutes. There's a red tick every 8 ticks, splitting the day into 10 even units (sorta a metric sundial ). There's definately 'seasons' as the circle described by the ticks changes its plane over time. Right now it only records one 4 hour day at a time due to prim allotment... but I'd love to get ahold of a nice hunk of prims and let this sucker run and generate a full SL year's worth of prims... mark off the solstices and such... sorta a new age stonehenge. Anyway, come see! -Ghoti

Happy soon-to-be birthday then, Aimee. I hit my one-year like 10 days ago and no one left me one of those nifty happy birthday threads all the cool kids seem to get. Apparently I'm not good enough, not smart enough, and people who like me don't know how to type.
Now that I've said happy birthday, I guess that means I don't have to start a new thread on Sunday. Muhahahaha!

Shadow..The Ancient with more ass than the forums have Teeth calm down shadow. i didn't say anything about future history or mentalics. one simple statistic isn't going to divulge the plan to the unfeted masses. as long as they believe they're happy, we can easily focus their anger in the proper directions so that why am i telling you all this? go read the wall.

Shadow Well I am ancienter than YOU. Almost 14 billion years. I helped make the blasted universe, so I have had practically FOREVER to advance MY plots. You wouldn't even be in the feted OUTER core if I hadn't arranged it. *Goes to the safe, and removes the lilac-scented gold bars from his diaper, and adds them to the pile.* Oh, and you can't compete with my funding either. Leastways, not till the gold market crashes.

Aimee Weber is brilliant and a great designer. I saw some of her shit last night and was totally floored. Chase's Manhattan is a great build. Her clothing line kicks my ass.
We need more Aimee Webers in SL. And less land-barons.

The Procrastinators Law of SL Time Distortion
Time you spent in SL today = n * (time you were supposed to spend doing something else)
Where n is a factor of the importance and immediacy of the thing you're supposed to be doing.
