Very cool!

I started the Linden Gallery of Resident Art primarily to simply raise awareness of art in SL. I've got a notecard dispenser at the gallery with a list of known Resident-run galleries, and a suggestion box where people can submit information. Please let me know about any such Resident-run galleries and I'll add 'em to the list to help more people find them all!

Ok well i really need to read all the posts before I repsond... **smacks forehead**

If we could tp from one gallery to another - like have a RL Art crawl...

wine, cheese, meet the artists, and be able to go directly from one to the next....

(sorry, no I do not have roam)

I wonder if the ROAM people would facilitate a preprogrammed (only good for the tour locations) device that could use the system freely for a day. Patrons could travel the circuit point-to-point and the museum guild could pay ROAM an annual fee for the usage.

Come to think of it, this would work for shopping tours, garden tours and several other types of specialized events. It's just a matter of licencing the technology rather than maintaining a small, centralized Bad Khamon! Stop That! You Promised!

Thanks for the kind words, Eos, regarding The Riverwalk. Easy to forget where it is located since the Riverwalk is in Ganymede but it spills over into the adjoining areas of Io and Europa. Madame, you are welcome to use this area for a sidewalk art showing. Just contact me and we can arrange a set up. Anyone else interested can do the same.

Would love to see more artwork and galleries everywhere in SL. Sadly, as Eos mentioned, art events rarely get many participants despite people seeming to say they want them. I have never quite figured out the best timing for any of the "Meet the Artists" or other special events that we hold on occassion.

The idea of a joint effort, First Friday, Art Crawl, or something that would link the various art galleries is intriguing. Would be nice to hear more thoughts on this.

I'm bored. Grignano is fairly empty. I have 1600 prims.

Pretend I built a grand, multi-level, ultra-gorgeous building, and had residents plaster the walls with art. Photographs and actual paintings, mostly. All user-made, no fake Monets floating around causing a ruckus.

Any interest?

Anyone? Bueller?

You could count me in. I do do some painting, but I'm more of an illustrator.

I demand 1 million in small, unmarked, non-sequential L$... wait, not that kinda demand?

I think it would be quite neat, really. :) I would suggest perhaps a curator as well for storing and cycling works, help keep folks interested past their initial viewing. Mabey special exhibits every so often. *rambleramble*

I'm a RL artist and have some works displayed at my tiny gallery in Bodega, some at Crescent Museum, some at Riverwalk, and one at Grignano Books. I'd love to be a part of any venture that displays residents original artwork.

Well. It seems we have a healthy contingent of museum patrons chomping at the bit for some highbrowosity.

Once I finish my previous construction engagements, I'll begin work on my museum, and then I'll start contacting fellow museumers for some sort of connective thing. :)

I'm resurrecting this thread because I'm 80% finished on the museum buildings themselves (southern grignano, under the archway).

Now I need to get in touch with other museum curators, as well as resident artists who would like to showcase their artwork (paintings, photographs, finished illustrations). There should also be a few places for small-to-medium prim sculptures, as well.

I also need a scripter or two who can design a ROAM-like transportatino system between all of the mainland museums, as well as a floating chair idea I have for the museum.

If you can help in any of the above capacities, please contact me in-world. Let's get this ball rolling! :)

There seems to be art galleries scattered all over the world. Wouldn't it be fun to have a world-wide art walk during some disignated week? Kind of like Burning Life for the cafe crowd. Could the Lindens setup a temporary limited-P2P teleport system (G2G, or Gallery-2-Gallery) so that we could all explore the SL art scene?

Maybe Seifert could set up tubes to toss us around on the mainland :D What's the effective range on those bad boys now?

Island galleries like Montmartre can just be landmarked, as they're already more or less P2P.

Lordfly, I've got some sculpted prims--they're large, but they're each a single prim. I'll IM you in-world. I'd also love to have my sculpture garden in the gallery-hop if it's not too much of a "store" (hey, that's what many RL galleries are, right?).

I also have a folder full of museum landmarks--maybe a few that haven't been mentioned. I know there was one on the Myst sim with lots of Renaissance art, and there's Pallazzi! (sp?) with some Caraveggios and Rembrandts. I was planning to organize a kind of scripted link-board for SL museums, but never got off my duff.

I could be persuaded to upload more of my RL photography if you're doing a photo wing.

Heh, I wouldn't trust it further than a sim for a single boost. Setting up a relay takes only one prim, but they have to be built on somebody's land, and getting permissions for appropriate spots across the mainland would be a tall order!

They worked pretty well in Burning Life, with nice new servers and not too much lag, but they may not be so reliable on an elderly server with lag. Possibly Havok 2 will solve those issues.

I have a few low prim sculptures if you'd like one or two Lordfly, though most of my more recent stuff is getting up into the hundreds of prims.

Unfortunately I had to remove the Selador Gallery, but once I acquire a bit of land I have my eye on it will be back, hopefully larger than before. I like the idea of a network of galleries, and would certainly be interested in this, although without point to point teleporting it would be a bit cumbersome in practice.

Sayest thou that artsey types will build a proprietary travel circuit for themselves and nobody else to use? We all will be excluded from viewing the fabulous art because you artsey types will have walled off your world to the exclusion of the common people. This must not be allowed in a free and open society; you must all be forced to travel the same circuits as everyone else. If you want a museum tour, buy telehub land you dogs you.

Jarod's right. I do a good impersonation. It's funny too. /me goes to practice some more.

shameless bump, because there's still plenty of space left for artwork.

Contact me ASAP :)

And another bump... was there the other day and there's still room for more artists. The museum is BIG. And a very nice build.

I have the second floor of the main wing, and about 3 floors of the auxillery wing that still needs artists. And sculptures, too :)

What's the quality of the stuff you accept? Or doesn't it matter?

Would you accept pixel art pieces?

And what about mature 18+ type pieces?

Generally it doesn't matter; art is so subjective, and I'm not exactly the World's Best Art Critic.

It HAS to be PG, as it's in a PG sim. Sorry, but them's the rules. No nudity, no bondagepants, no super-violent things that might offend more gentle minds.

Not my decision, but LLab's.
