One of my favorite players and friends left TSO, oh, I guess about a year ago now. He loved to build things just like they would really be - with light switch outlets and all that. He made a replica of the Simpsons home once, and we all took parts (I was the baby, lol). But there were no light switches in TSO.
I watched this wonderful player and person - the legendary Krom - get ever more depressed by the day as he realized that the tools he needed (basically, new stuff, ANY new stuff), were never going to be forthcoming. Eventually he lost all hope, and left for Star Wars Galaxy. His rl wife still plays TSO and maintains his account. TSO lost one of its most creative players, and a wonderful, wonderful person, when they lost him.
I really should get ahold of Krom and tell him that he can HAVE light switch outlets now, and anything else he wants. This game wouldn't ever be the same once Krom got in it! Maybe someday I will.

coco I'm glad you reconsidered not referring anyone to SL because of the "crap you have had to endure" as you said. People who are frustrated with the lack of custom content in TSO seem to really enjoy SL.

Did you know Krom, Ingrid?
No, not reconsidering. Someday - meaning when things are better, if they ever are.

coco I recognize the name... But I don't think I ever met him. It was amazing what some people were able to do given the limited tools there. Sounds like he was one of them.

Yes, he was!
He started "orbism." One of the darkest days was when the orb bugs were fixed. Oh, we still carried on with orbism (I was an orbist myself, as well as a platist, and officiated several weddings of other orbists and platists - most notably, the platist wedding of Hile and Sara Funnyweather).
Krom's rl life wife was Gensi in the game. They actually met over the internet, in some chat room, I think - some 8-10 years ago! They have a wonderful marriage.

Interestingly enough, this topic is pretty negative in that it highlights alternatives to SecondLife.
It's also not about SecondLife, but rather about competitive products.
However, I'm not going to Flame the thread poster for starting this, I just find that interesting.

Developers can then measure which new concepts most improve the products and incorporate them into the game in future patches."
