I agree. And that is something that is anywhere, and what some are complaining about here.
Though I have seen an example of "closed cliques" of groups of people who think their better than others, but normally their living in a delusion and everyone else don't know them or don't think their great. Though the people who criticize them are feeding their delusion.

From: Athel Richelieu Welp, this thread has officially gone down the drain....lol hahah a little well placed humor I think. i bet part of what you sense, both here and in world sometimes, is simply the natural result of anonymity. When people feel societal constraints (those things that keep us civilized) being removed, some take the freedom well, some don't. It's like any large batch of humanity -- a mix of apples. That... and the fact that text-based communication makes misunderstanding easy. you are right tho - groups/cliques are inevitable... it's just built into human psychology. We cannot shake our psychology simply because we are in a virtual world, but there are ways to transcend it perhaps? One of the neat things about SL is that because travel is instantaneous, it is much easier to get to know many many people in SL. There's also an amazing time warp in SL, where one months seems to feel like six. I sorta stand in awe of Torley sometimes, who I don't even know that well, but who brings such positive energy to our virtual world (at least as I see it) and has touched so many many people. I think Torley has perspective on what is really important.
