I was one of those who got in.

Once I saw the grid and Cinde had told me she was getting the closed message, I knew I was there as a guest of the Lindens and that it could go down for me at any time.

In another thread someone said that Andrew did announce this IW

Andrew Linden: It looks like the official opening of the 1.5.11 grid will be delayed hopefully only an hour or so. We've got some technical (http) difficulties on the back end.

That looks like a warning to me :)

I saw that message also. But I thought it was just an explaination as to why the grid was only half up and why they closed the door. I didn't see it as a warning, but then, I knew it could go down any moment because of the HTTP problem and the half full grid. and because others said the closed sign was out

Well I saw the
>"Andrew Linden: It looks like the official opening of the 1.5.11 grid will be delayed hopefully only an hour or so. We've got some technical (http) difficulties on the back end. "<

WHEN I GOT LOGED OUT.

I mean just like sandbox deletion or any other time there going down for something, Usually you see a little blue box ot the top righthand corner of the screen announcing, Hey save your work and junk, were going down soon.

And no, the script wasnt "open" on my screen at that moment so i couldnt just copy it.
I just hope by the time i can get back in, That little lonely one of a kind irrreplaceable not saved yet in my invatory cube with a scrpt in it is still there,

ok, what should it say?

"Warning, We are going to loose power due to a thunderstorm in exactly 15:09 minutes!"

or

"San Fran is going to experience a earthquake in 12 minutes and 28 seconds! Save your work!"

or

"We believe sl is going to go down, it looks normal now and hasnt showed any trouble so far, just be prepared!"

or

"A hacker has gotton into the main grid, save youre work!"

Shit happens. Roll With It.

The Lindens are working diligently, working hard on the issue. Be glad they let us in to play around a bit while they roll out a change. Would you rather they keep the grid down for 24 hours? Just plan on not doing anything critical in the first few hours of a new release.

Sorry my bad. I should have given 60 second warning or something. I'll try to be more careful next time.

Ok I dont know what the FK you all saw, But ..

I log in,, I work for a while, I get loged out,, WITH a customized Logout message, Meaning it wasnt that San Fran experienced an earthquake. It means someone there, was working on whatever bs http problems there having and pressed the big "LOG EVERYONE OUT" button.

And I thought this was an adult game? I've seen more childishness then I do in my 2 year old. LordJason, I dont know how long you have been playing, or how often you "get in" while the grid is still officially closed.. but this has happened before. Alot of people lost everything they did in.. a 2 hour period I believe it was? SO.. let it be a lesson. Next time you get in after a shut down.. instead of building or scripting things you want.. try doing something evil (but in a nice way) instead. then if the grid gets closed down.. nothing lost.. and no one knows :)

Well im sorry i just dont read the fomrs every time i decide to do something,

I woke up today, Downloaded the update and loged in. I had noticed thet some sims were missing and asked someone what was going on, and they said, "well thats just cause sl just came back online"//
Oh ok "i thought to myselfe, wow what great timing, i loged on and downloaded the update at almos the same time sl came back up"

then aparently even after asking someone, i should of came and read the forms just to be sure.

YOu know what, how about a "form ticker" so i can leave it running all the time and just know whenever something is posted in the forms.
Or how about important information about SL just gets posted inside SL?

Oh and should i report abuse to the person that mislead me in game?
No cause it was my fault according to all of you, because i didnt come read the forms every 2 seconds.

You're taking an example far too literally. Do people in San Fran have fair warning before an earthquake hits? No. Do people who are about to get hit by lightning get a bright flashing sign telling them to enjoy their last 4 minutes of life? No. Does Windows broadcast when a random crash is about to happen? No.

Does SecondLife HAVE to warn you about RANDOM acts of computer buggery? Heck no.
