The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart, The Kingston trio, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Janis Joplin, The Mamas and the Papas, Melanie, The Animals, Patsy Cline, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, Ziggy, et al., Lee *Scratch* Perry, Toots and the Maytals, Evanescence, Rammstein, Laurie Anderson, The Tom Tom Club, Information Society, The Jayhawks, Prince, Ipso Facto, Shaggy, Apache Indian, Shabba Ranks, Buckwheat Zydeco, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Crispin Hellion Glover (one crazy mofo) :D, Cake, Modest Mouse, Ray Charles (I love "I'm Busted" among , everal others.), Rainbow, Deep Purple, The Cars, Janis Ian, Joni Mitchell, Squirrel Nut Zippers, The Police, The Band, Alice Cooper, Nazareth, Carly Simon, Nat King Cole, Blur, Butthole Surfers, Romeo Void, Siouxie and the Banshees, Kraftwerk, P.I.L., Toadies, Harry Belafonte, Mazzy Star, James, Stevie Wonder, The Grateful Dead, CCR, The Wailing Souls, Linkin Park, Cypess Hill, Blondie, The Sex Pistols, Spliff, Dread Zeppelin (Tortelvis is some funny shit), Bob Dylan, Garbage, The Flaming Lips, Dido, The Cramps, The Misfits, Jonathan Richman, Garbage, No Doubt...

I voted other because of the eclectic list you see above. The list could go on (classical, funk, etc.), however, it's too long as it is...

Generally, music is a mood thing with me, which is probably why I appreciate so many different types of it. :D

Mina,

I'm surprised that classical was not one of the options. Anyway, classical.

In particular:- Messiaen, Nielsen, Honegger, Ives, Schoenberg, Grainger and quite a few others.

Well yeah i was going to put it in... till i noticed i ran out of poll options.

Sorry tho :(

I am a big Polka fan. I remember camping out all night to get tickets to those awesome Polka concerts back in the '80's. Those were the days.....

I was into the speed polka myself.....man some of those accordian playes could really polka their asses off.

Too many bands to name but basically everything from metal to classical except for new country and pablum pop puke.

I had to pick Other, since my current playlists lean heavily toward swing and rockabilly, crooners and lounge music, peppered with The Clash, The Pogues, Elvis Costello... But I like a variety of different sounds. The only types I really don't get into at all are most rap, hip-hop, techno and that sort of thing.

I think most people listen to more than one musical genre.
This poll should therefore be redone with checkboxes instead of radio buttons, and moved to the off-topic forum while we're at it.
I like good music. I can appreciate quality in most genres of music. I can't really say that I like this or that band, or this and that genre. I like certain songs from certain bands, and heck, I dont even know how to tell the genre of a given band. It's all music to me.

Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True is almost a perfect album. I love Nirvana, AudioSlave, Sneaker Pimps, Wheezer, Pearl Jam, Lynard Skynard, Led Zepplin (funny that I never really cared for them when they were around but now really like them), CCR, Sinead O'Conner, Ian Hunter, Warren Zevon, Concrete Blondes, Linda Ronstadt, dramatic classical, Bluegrass, Dixieland, not sure what it's called..maybe folk or bluegrass, but the music soundtrack to the movie, "Oh Brother Where Art Thou", Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendricks, Beattles, Marty Robbins Gunfighter Ballads, Rolling Stones, Michelle Malone, Liz Phair (sp?)....and lots of others.

I wanted to vote "all of the above, everything in between, and more". I really have diverse tastes and I enjoy hybrids -- cuz hey, the bastard music of today will be the subsubstyles of tomorrow.

Only thing I don't like is techno... so droney and repetitive... what are those studio boffins thinking? Are they making music for robots or people? ;)

(Kidding, kidding... some of the time, anyway.)
