Forum Bug Note: It seems as though the Search function is not working, I tried searching for "town hall" and it could not find anything, I double checked the settings to make sure nothing funny was checked and it appears I am infact searching *all open forums*. So it seems to me there is a bug with the search function.

Im posting this here, even if i posted the same in another thread.

I would like to have our names and profile on the left, not on the top. Long lines are hard and slow to read. Better to have the profile on the left and a little less wide messages.

Hey, Lindens! Set it to use *legacy*:
It's in vBulletin options - Style and language settings - Use legacy postbit template. That will fix it.

Other than that, I'm a happy camper.

Important addition!

Some of the threads are broken.

In the main Index, at The Reference Section, the last post is apparently from someone claiming they were dismissed unfairly. When you click on the message, you get an error message.

2. No View Latest Posts button! Please restore this if at all possible. Without it, the forum will be far less attractive to me.

New posts are now bolded, though, which is nice.

Hiro,

Yes, I've only just noticed that. :o Still, I think I prefer the button.

Seemingly it does? Next to the 'User CP' is 'New Posts' which does exactly what the old 'View Latest Threads' one did when you are at the forum top level, as far as I can see. (Links to /invalid_link.html)

I don't understand...If it isn't broke why fix it? What was wrong with the old forum design? Was someone complaining?

I do however like the new smilies except for the white edges. I've noticed that all the buttons have the white choppy edges as well.

Selador,
On the posts that are bolded i.e. new posts there will be a check mark button. If you click that it will take you to the newest post in the thread that you have yet to view.

Everything about this new forum design is fugly. Like FUGLY. Did someone at the office get their little nephew to design this or something?

FUGLY!

Well, after you said that, I began to notice the jagginess on the outsides of the emoticons because of non-transparency... or something. :)

I just can't believe how utterly unobservant I am!

It's OK but I would like better icon's, they are hard to see.

I cant find it in the thread, so excuse me if it has been mentioned before:

I'm using Opera 7.6 preview (because I cant log in to Gmail with older versions)
The lay-out is pretty messed up. Half the page is for the user information (user, date posted, member since, on/offline) and the other half is for the actual message...
I hope this can be fixed...

i like the re-organization, like actually having a search button on the front page.

I also like that it is now easy to provide a direct link to a single post in a thread.

The moderator stuff is well done too, made it a little easier to actually get in and get those posts into the library.

For all those people wondering about the fonts, i glanced at the css and all the fonts are declared in pixels, which is why your ctrl + and - don;t work. so until they go in and call out either a percentage, if we want bigger fonts, then we all need to use the [size] blocks.

so for example:
This is size one
This is size two
This is size three
This is size four
This is size five
This is size six
This is size seven

hit quote if you want to see how to use the [size] block.

Other than that, it is a little bright for my eyes... I don't much like white on my computer screen, what can i say.

I've been through many board changes on other sites and watched all the complaining (people don't like change). This is by far the best improvement of them all... all those things you had to hunt down (User CP, search etc) are now right at the top on plain view, and WOOT the OT forum is back :D

All we need is a quick reply box and I'll be thoroughly impressed.

The new design is very Laura Ashley . . .

What were you thinking?

Now I will run off and see if I can create an updated forum avatar that matches these new cheerful colors.

O.o

Edited for duplication, redundency and echo.

Ok, this new look is starting to come together very nicely now. I'm liking how it's shaping up with today's update.

Good work! =)

I have to say, the forum redesign is wonderful.

I love the "New Posts" button.

I love the Quick Links.

I love the smilies.

Thank you for the Guidelines at the top of the forums -- it's very easy for any newbie or oldie like myself to find them.

I agree with the others, though, the super-white background is a little hard on the eyes.

Think we could get something in a eggshell for those of us who don't like to squint?

Great job overall, thank you for listening and implementing the suggestions!

Hmm...
10-07-2004 17:02
as they say, you can't please all of the people all of the time..

the restructuring is groovy and i pretty much approve of the technical side of things, but the colors.. ugh. i actually liked the darker colors better. my retinas are trying to creep into the back of my head and hide behind my brain..

and now, when i'm getting ready to get back into being online a decent amount of the time, the forum colors may just slow my normal forum pace to a crawl (as has been the case recently anyway).

*shrug*

i'm sure i'll figure out a work-around.. even if it means wearing special "forum reading spectacles". (otherwise known as 'sun-glasses')
