It's been previously discussed in this thread , but the situation has gotten worse. The Governor's Mansion in Clementina has large chunks missing. Take a look at the attached photos. The Governor's Mansion is the oldest build in SecondLife, and it used to be one of the most impressive. Please, Lindens, do something to restore it.

Maybe we should dontate some Lindens for the Governor's Mansion Restoration Project to get it restored to its original condition.

I think hiring someone to fix the Governor's mansion is a great idea. I would be willing to contribute to such a fund. Please let me know who to pay.

Lindens, do save this build! Don't let it become like my leftovers from supper yesterday, decaying on my computer desk! Please do save! I love this build and really, its a legacy. But, if you do not wish to save it, contact me, I would gladly use my spare lifer land tier (4092m) to keep this alive for the eons to come! Heck, I'll take the time to fill in the holes and even sweep the walkways! This is definately a single unique build within SL that must not die!

From: Devlin Gallant Damn Looters! Looks more like Prim Rot to me, Devlin. Very hard to eradicate, we may need to tent the whole building and fumigate.

I've just called and left a message for Robin about this, and asked the Linden I did speak with to please notify the other Lindens about this. The Linden I spoke with was unaware of it. It could be that other Lindens are unaware of it too.
I'd encourage everyone who's concerned about the mansion to get the word directly to Lindens (particularly those who were around in alpha).
I'd written to both Robin and Philip about the mansion some time back when it looked like it might be lost, and both expressed a deep interest in preserving it.
I think the idea of a SL history museum is wonderful.
Has anyone talked to Steller about this?
Thanks, Candie

As Jake said, the issue was discussed here on the forums months ago and the people who posted were for the most part very interested in restoring this landmark. However, it looks like not much action has been taken yet. There's still a lot that can be done to help restore landmarks such as the governor's mansion. I personally think it should go to a resident who is respected and trusted and capable of maintaining the landmark preventing decay and maybe even helping to turn it into a museum in the future.

perhaps one of the lindens will create a maintenance group and add people to it who are willing to help rebuild and maintain the place. we can even promise to hold an event there once in a while. i'd devote a group slot to it. hey! i have fifteen now right! but more importantly, i live in taber and zoe and will do anything to help clemintina remain the wonderful sim that it is.
i'd even do a little landscaping. they can always delete it if they don't like it. it needs more prims though. wonder how much backlash they'd suffer if clem's prim limit was upped to 20k?

I once spoke to Nova Linden about this, I've sent e-mail to Haney, and I've filed multiple bug reports. It'd be great if other people try contacting them, too. Khamon, the prim limit in Clem wouldn't have to be raised. When 1.2 was announced, I asked the Lindens to buy up enough land in Clem to support the prims in the mansion. Haney bought enough public land to support an extra 2500 prims, which would have been plenty. However, that land never got transferred to Governor Linden's account, so the prim count couldn't be used. The mansion had too many prims for the parcel it stood on, so lots of stuff was deleted (basement, interior furnishings, etc.) when 1.2 arrived. Later on, the mansion seemed to decay. Prims lost their names; you'll see lots of prims named " no name)", which didn't used to be the cased. Other prims vanished, leaving big gaps. Some residents repaired the most visible gaps on their own, so the mansion looked intact again, if a bit underfurnished. The situation remained like that for a while, although as time passed, more prims disappeared. Then Governor Linden's land was set to autoreturn other people's prims. This caused all the residents' repairs to disappear, exposing all the original gaps. Anyway, if Haney's land were transferred to the Governor's account, there'd be no need to raise the prim count in Clementina. (It would still be worth investigating why these prims are vanishing, or losing their names.)

It looks like Ryan Linden has made a few repairs to the gaps shown in the snapshots I posted earlier. Other gaps remain, so I figured I'd try posting some more snapshots and seeing what happens.
The first image is of a gap in the foundation. The second is of a missing window frame. The third is of a missing interior wall.

Ahem, well now you see, the thing is, the problem you're experiencing here is due to a rotten falangie... Now that's only going to cost you $500... Oh, and I can't get the part to you for two weeks, it has to be uh, ordered in.... But that's without tax and expenses, so that's only going to be another $250... Oops, that's my beeper, I have to attend another job. Give me $250 to get started and I'll be on my way... Jsecure Hanks [Representing the association of timely, honest, cheap builders! ]

Bump.
Steller, do you have pictures of the original interior of the mansion? Does anyone?
I can't remember everything that used to be in the mansion, but I know there was a great dining room table and chairs, with a fabulous chandelier above it. And of course, there used to be an extensive basement.
Well over a thousand prims were deleted from the parcel after 1.2 arrived.

From: someone It would still be worth investigating why these prims are vanishing I've been climbing up the mountain at night and chiselling bits off the foundation for its limestone. Then I put it in jars and put googily eyes on it and sell it in my gift shop for big bucks. I figured a little at a time and no one would notice. Are you saying I should stop?

Candie, there is a SL History Musuem, its in Phobos, south west corner I believe, you can do a search for "historical" in Groups and it should come up with the Historical Society group which has coords to the museum in the charter.
The Governor's Mansion situation is a sad one, and I do hope more restoration is made. The hard part is knowning how to restore the less obviouse features, walls and floors are easy to replace, but other things that you don't know how exactly they looked are a bit harder.
I have some pictures of the Mansion I've found, but they're all far-away outside ones, nothing from the inside other than a few I took a couple of months back (which may be helpfull depending on whats missing).
I'll hunt them down and take a look.
I'm willing to donate anything thats needed for the restoration.

Any pics would be helpful, Oz, even exterior shots. I just noticed that the walkway behind the guest house is missing a wall, and one of the support pillars underneath no longer reaches down to the ground. I also remember that there used to be sconces along the exterior wall.

The mansion still needs repair. If the Lindens are too busy to do it, it'd be nice if they allowed residents to make repairs without having them auto-returned.
Proposal: the Lindens could create a group and set the Governor's land to that group. That way group-associated objects would not be auto-returned. The members of this group could then make repairs and restore the mansion to its former glory.
I would submit a proposal under the newly proposed Incubator Program, but it seems like one criterion under that program is anticipated dwell, and I don't expect a restored Governor's mansion would be generate enough dwell to compete with amusement parks, etc. On the other hand, this restoration project wouldn't require much Linden investment; just the creation of a group.
Any thoughts?

I'll sign any proposal/petition you send to the Linden's. And I'll help out where I can: making foundations, filling gaps, scraping bugs out of the pool, whatever.
