Why persecute the truthful?

It's a parody... I mean, they did have most of us fooled for the first page or so. I was. Then I thought it was Panda, but now, I dunno who it is.

Someone created an account with a similar name, used the same forum icon, even created a parody of the ad in the sig, then went and copy/pasted a bunch of the real Prokofy's posts... all to fool us into thinking it was Prokofy. And, most of us fell for it.

While Robin said parodying someone's name, in and of itself, is against the TOS, to my understanding using that parodied name to ridicule somone is.

This is not. This is yet another terribly pathetic attempt to alienate and isolate an individual who's real crime was to have alternative opinions.

Because if it was for hijacking threads, being insulting or offensive .. then why aren't all other morons around here which do the same thing equally isolated?

But there is a huge list of other individuals in these forums which behave exactly in the same way, except that they express ideas and opinions which are widely acceptable.

OK. This thread is totally inappropriate. But I will say this. I laughed SO HARD through this whole thing!!! Honestly, I feel like a shell shocked veteran that just got news that peace broke out! I think we all needed this little celebration before we resumed our civilized discussions.

For one, it's never a battle. A concept neither Prokofy nor most of the people around here can seem to appreciate, and two .. this is mostly for the benefit of the people who have the maturity and wisdom to appreciate.

Sometimes, parody is used to make a point, but often it is just in fun. I don't know what the original posters intentions were, but I do know they pulled the wool over us for a few moments.

This thread isn't any better than what Prokofy Neva does to other people time and time again. And it isn't any worse, either. The medium and the approach is different; the spirit is just the same.

Prokofy Neva and all of his alts should be banned from these forums. The person who created the PN parody ought to be banned as well.

Funny? No. Satirical? No. Fun and satire have what this little squat-and-push exercise lacks: intelligence, and a decent point. If you're gonna act like a total ass, you can't out-ass the ass you're acting like.

I have no idea how the Lindens are interpreting the standards for enforcement on these forums. None. I wish they'd clarify. Simply throwing the ToS our way isn't gonna do it. The ToS is a document to be interpreted, and as I said, I can't see a pattern in the interpretation.

This whole thing has nothing to do with free speech.

It does have to do with keeping the forums insult-free.

I could make other insults, and while they are Free-Speech protected, they are still not acceptable in the forums.
