Whoever owns Eden use the island access tools. Your security system causes a relog to be required.

Sometimes I wonder if estate owners have even looked at their estate tools.
Its under "world," people. If you don't want me on your island simply take it off of the map. One click. ![]() |

There are reasons for not taking an island off the grid and keeping people out...it's a private sim and the fact that they paid 1k for it gives them the right. The moment your security system causes an innocent person serious grief, such as crashing their client or unseating them from their vehicle so that they can't retrieve it, then you've crossed the line. Though the right to privacy is good and well, it must be balanced by my right to be free from grief. It's not impossible to create a security system which doesn't do such things. Don't use crappy code. |

Talen, if the sim owner can easily fix it, it's their problem as well.

Talen, if the sim owner can easily fix it, it's their problem as well. perhaps the sim owner doesn't want to ...perhaps there is a reason to have it showing on grid but have it barred. I hear people complain about this all the time.....if it is a private sim not connected to the mainland and not in find then why do people have to go there? It's not right to get pissed at a sim owner for using land tools correctly. If the action of using these tools boots people from the service then it is a LL problem that should be fixed. I've had a barred 512 plot boot me off world before.....it wasn't that persons fault either. |

Talen, what POSSIBLE reason could there be for a sim to show, but be barred, other than "Nyah Nyah, you can't come here"?
And no, people don't HAVE to go there, but the thing is, when someone teleports there and gets ghosted, simply because they wanted to check it out (as it APPEARS to be open to the public), they'd be justified in getting pretty pissed off. _____________________

They would be justified at getting pissed off at LL because the land tool is broken ....not because the sim owner used it. There could be many reasons they have it on grid but barred. The fact is it is their sim and they have the right. How can you justify telling someone what to do with their property especially when they have paid $1k for the right to the land and an additional 200 bucks a month rent? |

In Eden, it is not the sim that is set to not let people in, it is a script. If they looked at their estate tools they could set the sim to only let certain people in, or only let certain groups in-- but i guess they haven't looked. And while they were looking, they could set the sim to not be on the map at all. It would make a lot of sense if they don't want anyone to actually go there. |

This may be...but even the land tool when it is used properly to barr people will disconnect them and send them off world. Even so if they are using a script on their private property and it doesn't interfere with anothers property ( which it can't because it is a private sim ) then they still have the right to use it. When everyone can dictate what and how a private sim owner does and uses on their land then LL better be selling private sims for a buck....because at 1k a pop You should have ther right to do as you wish. |

The land tool is NOT broken- the security script is! The land tool IS broken. When a private sim is set to barr people and they teleport to the sim it can, will, and has booted people from the grid....disconnected them... and or made it so they must relog.....the land tool for barring people in a private sim IS broken and has been for quite some time. |

I wonder what a possible reason might be, Talen--other than pure obnoxiousness or stupidity. Again what does it matter if it isn't your sim? I know you wanted to go see it ....but you weren't invited and it was on the map so you figured its ok. I don't own a sim but I know one person that does and has a good reason for setting it that way occasionally. Most times it is off grid but they have a purpose when it is visible.....and even when there is a purpose it isn't your right to know what that is either. |

they're not obnoxious or stupid. they've each been kinder and more helpful to people than almost any dozen of us combined.
the estate land tools simply don't meet their needs. eden was invisible for a long time. lately they've started venturing back into the community and letting a few people drop by the island. thank heaven they don't read the forums. _____________________

eden was invisible for a long time. lately they've started venturing back into the community and letting a few people drop by the island. All the have to do is make a little list of people they want to let on. The land tools work fine. I am also a sim owner. I don't see what the problem is. But no one is volunteering that information, so I guess it will just have to remain a mystery. |
