I love scary movies, but lately none of the scary movies I've seen have been all that scary.
I think the scariest, most intense part of any movie I've seen is the first 15 minutes or so of "When A Stranger Calls," closely followed by the end of "Silence of the Lambs" where Jodie Foster is fumbling around in the dark while the creepy skin-suit guy has night vision goggles on.
So, any suggestions? New or old, I love them all!

I hate scary movies so I stopped at Gremlins.

From: Akuma Withnail 28 Days Later freaked the hell out of me. I absolutely love that movie and usually I hate scary movies because I'm such a damn easy mark. Hmm .... what movie last scared me? Better yet .... what scary movie DIDN'T scare me? Believe me this is the girl who got freaked out watching the freakin' X-Files. I think The Ring and The Sixth Sense were both very creepy.

An old movie, with Julie Chistie and Donald Sutherland, called "Don't Look Now."

From: Paris Cellardoor SAW....Will scare the fuck out of you. SAW - The movieThe only thing that scared me about Saw was the fact that I paid money to see it. That said, the Japanese version of The Ring is my vote-the Japanese know how to make a horror movie! -Kiamat Dusk

SAW's first trailer left a frightful impression on me. After chuckling my way through the second, however, I wasn't interested in viewing it. It was like a hamster on speed! Sheesh.

That one was creepy. It stood to further reinforce my belief that Rutger Hauer was one of the Creepiest People Alive. Then again, 20 years later, he's just older and not so creepy.

I'm a wimp, but i'll add "Signs" to the list.
I hate horror movies, they are just gorey and gross, not scary at all. Suspense is much better.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre the remake, but do NOT go and see the grudge, its shit with a capital S, I am SO mad I paid money for it I love horror films, I have over 600 dvds, and a majority are horror, from crappy b movies to new ones like The Grudge and um, well, um, others Nightmare on Elm Street are always amusing! Jeepers Creepers scared the shit outta me LOL and its funny too

i'm one of those people who are really hard to scare, but i'd have to make a couple nominations:
The Amityville Horror (although the book was even more scary)
In The Mouth of Madness (very twisted, a must see)

Alien and Aliens had to be 2 of the scariest movies I ever saw. These days, they've been copied so many times it's unlikely a new viewer would find anything special about them, but at the time they were unique and truly terrifying. Particularly brilliant was that scene in the second one when they come through the ceiling. Too bad the subsequent sequals all sucked.

Oh i've heard things about "The Ring" from girls on my floor... has anyone seen that? We had a halloween haunted house thing in my dorm, and on one of the floors a girl was dressed up like the little girl in that movie.. in a white nightgown and long black hair all down, with a hard stare straight ahead... I never saw the movie, so I didn't know what it was, but a few of the girls in our group started freaking out and wouldn't go near her. I dunno

From: Lo Jacobs I think The Ring and The Sixth Sense were both very creepy. The Ring was definitely scary...especially the scene with the girl crawling out of a tv. Then again, I get scared easily. I screamed along with the kids in the theatre when Gollum was first introduced in LOTR: The Two Towers.

My daughter said Boogeyman was pretty scary. This was a child that was raised on horror movies. At 6 years she was watching Jaws to fall asleep to and was the only person in her 6th grade to go to the movies to see Bride of Chucky. She also recommends the Village and she really liked the Grudge. I myself loved Scream but that may have had more to do with Matthew Lilliard than anything else. Also Johnny Depp was in the original Nightmare on Elm Street. I love horror movies, but I prefer movies like Final Destination and Identity. I am going to watch Saw right now. I'll post my comments on that one after the movie

The only thing that ever really freaked me out was Zelda from Pet Cemetery... "rachel.. rachel.. RACHEL!!!"
That and the State of the Union address.
Oh, and The Exorcist.
